Downloading games to our hard drives.

Well guys, we all know how we can download disks to our hard drives. But, I have an idea to change it so we may only need the disk once, with xbox's approval of course. My idea is that whenever we purchase a game from a store it will come with a code pre-registered
specifically for that disk. But in order to acquire the code we have to pay a few extra dollars because it's not very easy to set individual codes for every disk for every game. Also it order to verify that this is a purchased game via some kind of legitimate
game store it will ask you for a purchase code which will be included on your reciept that way people cant just try to install game fly or netflix games. So anyways, you download the disk on your hard drive and at the end it will ask if you have a no disk
play code. If you have one click yes and enter it, if not just click no. After clicking yes you enter your purchased code and it verifies it. Then you now completely own a digitalcopy of your game

I really need a way to "back up" my games after digital downloads. Hopefully the option of anexternal HDD isn't too far away.

 

What times this Halo 5 beta suppose to go live?

Does anyone know if we have to re download the beta if we already were in the beta early access and have that on our hard drive already?

 

More or less the plan for xbox one, and the whole community said no as it stopped you sharing games with your friends, renting, and the entire second hand market.

 

Like Own said, this was the plan with the Xbox One before the whole changes took place after E3.

 

Yea, it was a great idea, but people equated it to "DRM", and those dreaded 3 letters doomed it. Sucks that gamers didn't want to accept it.

 

I dislike this idea, just like I did before.

 

Just buy your games digitally. Same result. Less work.

 

With the size of the installs and the downloads, it takes chunks of the HD space every single time and a lengthy amount of time to get to the point of actually playing at all. I'm well and all in favor of getting as close back to the 360's insert and play
speed.

 

Not hard to make an individual code for each game on the service. EA and Valve seem to manage it quite well on the PC for their digital distribution services. MIcrosoft even did it back when they gave a damn about Games for Windows LIVE.

@Eggnogga: PC gamers have accepted it, with Steam mainly, this is because the PC has advantages the consoles just don't have.

Want people to accept PC like DRM on the consoles? Then start giving them PC like advantages as well.

 

^^I am ignorant to PC gaming so forgive me, is there a used marketplace for PC games? If MS had explained their vision better last summer and what advantages it had could it have worked?
