    Downloading Games to External Drive


    Hi! I need to know how to download games to my external drive from the App. The App will not let me choose anything other than C.

    However:

    I WILL NOT BE REFORMATTING ANY DRIVES

    I WILL NOT BE CHANGING ANY SETTINGS OUTSIDE OF THE XBOX APP

    I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO THOSE TWO THINGS YOU SHOULD FIX YOUR APP

    Forza Horizon 5 is not able to download to an external drive.

    All of my Microsoft and Xbox games are downloaded on my external drive including the previous Horizon, which is Forza Horizon 4. I changed where new apps are stored when downloaded from the Microsoft store to my external drive but it still wont download Forza Horizon 5 to my external drive. On the Xbox app it wont show my external drive as an option to download to. I am able to download any game from the Microsoft store and Xbox app to my external drive except Forza Horizon 5.

    Xbox One Digital Download Transfer

    1. Plug external hard drive into Xbox One with good connection.

    2. Download games.

    3. Unplug external drive.

    4. Take external drive to Xbox One with bad connection.

    5. Plug external drive in.

    6. Play games.

    7. Say thank you.

    Note: External drive needs to be USB 3.0 and have 256GB of free space.

    Can I download xbox games without console present?

    you can download it on a different Xbox to your external drive. If you are referring to downloading it from a PC (i' don't think you can do that)

    if you have an external drive-you could just plug that straight into your Xbox and download the game straight to the external.

    Xbox One needs to download to external devices without asking.

    You will need to set you external drive as the primary drive to download games.

    You need to have external drives plugged into the Xbox (as stated by other Ambassadors) you can not plug into a PC to download games.

    FreakRoach explains how to be able to remotely download to your Xbox and having external drives set as default download.
