Downloading games before turning the system on for the first time

Bought an Xbox One for my son for Christmas. I'd like to buy an few games and have them start downloading as soon as he turns it on for the first time. Is this possible or do I need to get the console up and running first?

Clearing cache did not help. Sticky did not specify when to clear cache i.e. after removing profile before turning off system for 30min; before removing profile; after powering system back on and downloading profile; before downloading profile; etc.

I tried it every different way I could think of, still no resolution.

This is first time your turning it on? Did you buy the system used?

You should get the console up and running first if you want the games ready and loaded. What I would suggest is after he's gone to bed on Christmas Eve hook the console to the TV (hidden of course) and then package the Xbox One box with something else inside
and put it under the tree. After he's had his fit show him the already hooked up console.

Be sure to get the fit on video so you can post it on youtube. lol

It does. I've downloaded many games with Games with Gold before. This is the first time that this happens.

When I first dl'ed the update, my system froze at the logo screen. I turned it off and had to re-download it and it took a long time the second time, but it works ok. I hope you get sorted op.

It worked for me as well. I think before I Cleared the System Cache first and then Deleted my Profile. This time, because my profile was already deleted, I did not have to do that step but Clearing the System Cache after the profile was deleted enabled me
to download my profile. I did restart the system after Clearing the Cache and before I downloaded my profile. Thanks much!

When you deleted the system update the first time, have you since then been able to download, or install the system update manually? If not, how far does the installation process takes you, before it cancels and prompts you with an error code?
