Downloading digital games

My god why does it take forever to download agame from the worlds biggest software manufacture? What do you guys have dial up or something? I have the fastest possible internet connection in my area. I can download HD movies from iTunes in under 5 minutes.
But a game from Xbox takes ALL DAY to download. This is ridiculous. I know one thing for sure, I'll NEVER EVER buy another digital download games again!

Downloading games taking a long time

Are you downloading from a disc or a digital download? It took about 5 hours to download call of duty as a digital game. If downloading the digital version it will take quite a while depending on your internet speed. If downloading from a disc try disconnecting
from the internet and downloading the game that way.

Fir disc based games appear offline when you are downloading and they will install quicker, with the digital games you will also be downloading updates which adds to the time it takes.

If you are mainly buying digital games your vest option is to buy an external hard drive.

 

I hear you on that. I'll let my son know too, I'm installing COD AW and it's been about 1/2 hour and only at 21%.

 

I bought NBA 2k 15 yesterday at 3:30pm its still downloading!

 

It's 12:34am here and I'm at 80%

Ouch, I think mine will be about 2 hours, but that still seems too long. Well, they did say it's at the top of their list to increase DL times.

 

Your download speed is also highly dependant on what speed you get from your ISP. How can MS improve download speeds, if your connections are slow. Do you even know what your speeds are?

I'm on 120Mb/s down 10Mb/s up. No slow downloads here. As for an HD iTunes movie, they are typically around 3GB, a typical Xbox One game is between 10 and 50GB.

 

You also have to take into account the xbox is also downloading all the patches as well as the game.

 

Obsessive power. My wife works from home (Lucent technology) so I got the fastest possible for her. I have Xfinity extreme. DL speeds are 150Mbps

Of course I know a movie will DL faster. This game is 49Gb maybe with patches if MAY BE 55Gb. If I can download "planet of the apes" movie in like 6 minutes (probably a whole 4Gb if that)

I figured a Xbox game from Microsoft's servers. Should be 30 minutes if that.

Their servers suck, they've put a tourniquet on DL speeds from THEIR end.

 

Have you tried checking I think it's called advance networking testing under the network settings and see what speeds your Xbox One is getting?

 

I'll check that out. Hopefully it's a problem on my end. And thanks for all the replies friends

Download speed 120.38Mbps Latency 63ms

Upload speed 23.38Mbps

Packet loss 0%

MTU 1480

 

I'm on a massive 15mbps. Usually takes anywhere between 2-8 hours to download a game, there is no real consistency. Do what I do and download it over night, it beats sitting there watch the % slowly go up.
