Downloading Digital Games Before Release

I agree with this, something we definitely need. I'm going all digital this generation, had to wait 7/8 hours on Day One to download BF4... I don't want to wait 8 hours downloading games on release day when I could have it pre-installed and ready to go.

 

Just fort id leave this here...... microsoft are looking into the resell of digital games

 

I know, Gh0stz. They mentioned it months ago, but here we are still waiting for it (and many more things besides)...

I would like to see it preload, and release by time zone, I had to stay up until 2am just to start my download of Titanfall.

Wasn't Nintendo trying to make digital downloads available 2 weeks before the retail release? Did they ever do it? I'd also love to see something like that happen.

While pre-downloading is a great idea, it would not change my buying habits.

Gh0stz, there is no need to. I'm not trying to get them to add the feature; I just want to know what everyone's opinions are if they did.

 

Personally, I see this feature as a direct result of a "gotta have it right now!" society. Several generations that have yet to learn the definition of patience. Won't make a bit of difference to me either way. But if it is a requested feature and/or selling
point I don't forsee any problems with it being implemented. I am sure that technically it can be done with the software today. Maybe there is a bottleneck with legalities between distributors, developers, and sellers of physical games?

 

I don't get my hopes up for anything remotely consumer friendly from Microsoft like download pre-release day and play at midnight on release day OR a trade in on digital game licenses towards new games policy.

 

Of course it can be done today, TODI; Sony's already proven it.

 

I wasn't talking about Sony, talking about xbox one.....I was stating that the software (for the One) could do it, I have to guess that there might be some other reason it is not being implemented....maybe contracts/legal issues....maybe other items higher
on their priority list. Only Microsoft knows.
