    You don't need to have played the game on your console. Just download the content, then it will be ready to go as soon as you are.

    This may be a stupid question but i have a few xbox games that i have yet to play, but want to download some add ons for when i play them. If i download these before i have played the game will they still be saved and then added when i play or does my console
    need to already heve a game save before it will save the add ons ?

    If you purchased add ons other than the season pass on the 360, they will not show up on the one as you need to buy them for each system. At least that is my understanding, as well as the opinion of a dozen other forum members who tried to do the same thing.

    Yeah found out its true, what a rip off like they dont make enough money. Upgrading to xbox one has been such a hassle and a waste of money.

    Yeah found out its true, what a rip off like they dont make enough money. Upgrading to xbox one has been such a hassle and a waste of money.

    You must have a payment instrument on your Microsoft account to download free content from the Xbox 360/One Marketplace. To add a payment option, sign in to billing.microsoft.com, then go to Payment options, select Add a payment option, and then follow the
    instructions. If you don't want to add a payment option, you can download the content using your Xbox 360 console. We don't have a workaround for this one as this is how 360 Marketplace was designed.

    Try removing the add-on from your Xbox 360 Console, then re-downloading the add-on from within the Gears Of War 3 game.
