Downloading a region-locked game and then returning to a region where it's unavailable?

I'm trying to download Resident Evil 6 which I bought digitally.

I turned off the Xbox and left the download process running as a Background Download. When I checked whether the game had showed up in the games library the next day, it wasn't there. When I checked to see if it was in the Storage, it showed up as a 7.6GB Corrupted
File(I think the game itself was 7.5GB, by the way ). Of course, I put it to redownload, but while it was doing so, I also decided to Google the problem. Region-locking was mentioned many times as one of the potential problems, and I thought it's very likely
THE problem in my case. I'm in Estonia, and the game is probably unavailable in my region. I've been able to buy some games digitally, while others have been unavailable.

But I bought Resident Evil 6 in a region where it was available, on PC. Then I got back to the console, which was not in a region where the game was available. The game did download, but in the end, showed up as a corrupted file. My question is, if I bring
the Xbox to a region where the game is available, let it finish the download and then go back to where it isn't available, will I be able to play the game? Like, once it is successfully downloaded, am I free of region-related problems? Can I play it normally?

If it's a region issue, then no. Some 360 games are region locked so in order to download them, your account region has to match your physical location and you have to be in a region where the game is available.

Those games are region locked so usually problems with downloading are region related. In order to download them, your account region has to match your physical location and you have to be in a region where the games are available.

 

With region locked content your account region and your physical location have to match in order to download the game. So you would have to take your console to whatever region your account is set to in order to download the game. Once it's downloaded it
will work. However, since Estonia is not supported by Live you may have issues with online multiplayer.

You should also note that it is against the terms of service to try to gain access to content that's not made available to you (basically making an account in a region that you don't live to try to download other games).

 

Well first you actually have to live in the region it does not matter if you use a vpn or let someone queue it for you

I travel a lot. So this, I can do. And my account region is set to UK.

And online multiplayer works just fine for me with every game(when I'm gold). I was just wondering if I would have a problem if I happen to play a region-locked game in a region where it wasn't available to download. That's all.

 

Once the game is downloaded you would not have a problem accessing it off the hard drive.

As Smwutches says, though, you may have some problems with online multiplayer from an unsupported region.
