Downloading a game straight to an external drive?

Hello - tried to find if this was already covered so apologies if this information is somewhere else.

Fable HD Anniversary was on sale as a download so I grabbed it, and then realized that my xbox 360 doesn't have enough memory on its hard drive to store the game. I'd like to download the game straight to my external drive, which is formatted and has 31
gigabytes of available storage, so it should work - but as I go to re-download the game, I can't find an option to change the download location. I went to the storage options and since the download was only partial, I could only delete the file, not move
it. Is downloading a new game to an external drive even possible? Thanks so much!

Can I download xbox games without console present?

you can download it on a different Xbox to your external drive. If you are referring to downloading it from a PC (i' don't think you can do that)

if you have an external drive-you could just plug that straight into your Xbox and download the game straight to the external.

 

Xbox One Latency issue

I might have narrowed the problem down. When i download the games to my external HD, they go slower. But when I do it straight to my internal drive it is a little speedier. Are there any known issue with downloading to en external HD? The one I have
is 3.0 USb and 5400RPM. Would that affect it and why?

 

When you head to your download history to attempt the download again you should have the option to change the storage device before selecting Download Again.

 

When I tried downloading one of my old arcade games from my DL history, there was no option to change the storage device as far as I could see. But there is another way to do it.

1. Choose something to download from the Xbox 360 Store (something free like a demo).

2. Add what you really want to download to your queue.

3. Go to your downloads queue. Select the second item that should be still pending. Follow the information on the screen to change the download storage device.

4. Cancel the first download.

When the first download is cancelled, the second item begins to download and since you changed the storage location, it will now download to there instead of the default storage device.
