    Hi my son has a Xbox One and I have bought him Gold Live membership. I haven't bought it for myself tho as I play games on my gaming PC so no real need for me to have a gold membership. He wants Sonic
    Generations which is currently free on Gold but it won't let me download it on his account it keeps saying 'Sorry, your account is unable to make this type of purchase on xbox..com. Please complete this transacton from your xbox' (which I am trying to do on
    his xbox. I thought i would try my account on the xbox but because i don't have gold it wants to charge me £14,99 for a game that my son should be able to get for free. Am at a dead end on what to do and can't find a answer anywhere to download it for him,
    please help me to download this game for him xxx

    is what I got the other day just them thinking it's already sorted, even started begging on xbox facebook page for help but nothing. My son really wants this game and it comes off being free in a day. I never had any issues like this on my windows gaming pc,
    ps4 or nintendo switch. But I can't even get help for this. I don't see the point in me buying gold when i have a windows gaming pc just so i can buy him a game that is free on his gold membership

    If he is on a child account, he would need to make the purchase on a 360 console. This is due to certain restrictions in the 360 store that do not transfer over to the One or website.

    free just like they are getting the version I PAID for free, this is stupid. First the BS of giving crap games for the "games with gold" program, getting really fed up with getting the shaft for supporting this damn company.

    I have the same issue too.

    I spent 2 hours on the Microsoft support chat, and nothing they tried with my region account worked, there was no problem with it. It is just the payment platform that doesn't work ...

    They ended up saying to me that I need an Xbox 360 to "buy" the free games and after that I would be able to download it on the Xbox ONE.

    This is really a problem because since they announced the backward compatibility, I sold my Xbox 360 to buy an Xbox ONE, and now I can't add the Xbox 360 games to my account ...

    If someone has a solution ... Because microsoft can't solves this problem for us ...

    No, thats not what i am saying.

    I am saying that as a gold member that only has a 360, you can now add the free xbox one games for gold to your download history direct from your 360 dashboard.

    Once you get an xbox one those free xbox games you added will be free to download to your new console.

    You apparently could download them from this site before, you can now do that on your console.
