    Downloaded Games?


    Are downloaded games linked to a specific gamertag or is it linked to the console?

    Basically my friend is swapping his PS4 for an Xbox One (He has seen the error of his ways) - the swap is a PS4 with Kill Zone for an Xbox One with Fifa 14, but the Xbox One with Fifa 14 is a downloaded game...... when/if this swap goes ahead will he be
    able to play Fifa14 or will it be attached to previous owners gamertag?

    Hello LEGENDARY PLANK,

    Do you have the ability to use another storage device? Since you are experiencing this with all downloaded games and games that are installed on your hard drive I can only assume that if it's happening with multiple game discs that it could be related.

    If you could try to remove the hard drive from your console and try a secondary storage device like a USB Flash Drive (something with anywhere from 8GB-16GB of space). If you are able to download Halo Reach to that Flash Drive and your profile to see if it
    works you can then see if this is an issue with the storage device or something with the console.

    This would be highly recommended before contacting phone support with this issue as they might try to tell you to do the same anyway.

    It's tied to the account that downloaded it. A game can only be played by the profile that downloaded it (while signed into Xbox Live), or on that profile's designated Home console (by anyone, no need to be connected).

    So for example, if my friend had this console, and kept the original gamertag on it and then added his own he would be able to play it as long as the original gamertag that downloaded the game remains?

    Sorry @Maxen13 You have the info slightly wrong. Anyone can play the content on any console so long as the profile that downloaded the content is logged into live at the same time on the same console they are using the content on. Or anyone can use the
    content on the designated home console without being connected to live if they wish.

    Hi there, the only thing I can think of is did you ever go through your hard drive to see if there was a partial download of the game, possibly with a yellow triangle signalling that it's corrupted?

    Sometimes these corrupted partial downloads can stop it from being re-download successfully the second time. See the link for more information on deleting games from your hard drive:

    Sorry to hear it. Please try holding the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down to see if that helps.

    Thanks for the response, but they are not showing up in my Ready to Install. They are also not in my account. Might be because they are old (they are for my original Xbox One, which was about 3 years old....)
