    Downloaded games won't start after playing game on disc


    For whatever reason, after playing a game that's on disc (say dark souls 3 for example) and then close said game when finished with it, if I try to open a game that I purchased from the xbox store and download straight to my xbox, it comes up with "*insert
    game title here* took too long to start" and I can't play it unless I do a hard restart on my console, and even then I still have the same problem after playing a game on disc. Does anyone know why this is or how I could fox it? Thanks (sorry for the long

    To clarify, are you playing the game you own digitally with a disc? Also, are you playing on the same account that owns the content or a different account?

    Hi, when you put in the disc are you connected to internet? Because to play backwards compatible games you will need to download the compatible version in order to play the game, the download should start after you have inserted the disc.

    The disc still is reading when you're playing the game, even if it's installed on your system (requirement on Xbox One). When you start downloading/installing a game, it won't download when the console is off. This was the SAME on the Xbox 360; you had to
    have your Xbox on to download any games. Don't worry about the wear and tear, it running like that won't hurt the Xbox, they are made for that.

    If you've got a download code for it, just download it. The installed game was from the disc and you won't be able to play it unless you get another disc. Just delete then download.

    Hi,

    To download a Play Anywhere title on PC, you must own the digital download version of the game. Disc games do not qualify. If you have the game on disc for Xbox One you won't be able to download it for free on your laptop.
