Downloaded Digital Version of a Game I Already Owned

So I already owned the physical version of thebwitcher 3 wild hunt, I recently downloaded the digital version if the game, specifically the complete edition. The game downloaded but when I went to boot it I realized that there was the old version of the
game the one for the physical version, and then the new digital version right next to it. It seems that the Conplete edition of the game is being registered as an entirely new game rather than simply syncing data from the old one and becoming one. I have no
saves or anything on the new version either like I said it's like a clean slate like I never owned the game. I tried uninstalling the old version and then trying it again but I had the same problem. I'm reinstalling the old version right now and I'm gonna
see if that changes anything. I'm gonna try a few different things but is this happening to anyone else with any other game? btw yes I am using an external HD and yes both games are downloaded to the External HD.

You should definitely try to ask for a refund if you're unable to get your save data onto the complete edition of the game.

oh no....then in that case I'm just going to ask for a refund. I read somewhere that sometimes the external HD isn't recognized so It tries to download the same copy of the game twice. I'll contact support and see what they say.

I may be mistaken but the complete edition is a different copy of the game. Your progress doesn't carry over sadly.

You would have to purchase the digital version in order to have the digital version. There is no way to download the game digitally just by owning the disc
