Downloadable games same price as game disc

Anybody know why Downloaded games are the same price as game disc when disc requires to be shipped and boxed in special cases? Also when a game is on sale, sometimes you don't get the downloadable games at a discount price but disc games are on sale. Somebody
should know something about this or have an input to the game community. I like downloadable games, especially having 2 xbox one and I hate moving disc around.

Yes. Games purchased on Live run the same as the disc versions so any downloadable content would work the same.

Installed games will only play if you have the disc in the drive.

The Ultimate Games Sale....really I think that's what it should be called for United States 360 customers, not Canadians.

What annoys me more than the price difference is the cost for downloadable games is the same as buying the game in the store...which can only mean the instruction guide, packaging and shipping is free...

Downloadable games are usually sold at the rrp,recommended retail price,where as if you buy a disc copy from a shop or online store they don't tend to sell them at the rrp hence it's usually cheaper to buy a physical copy of a game.

Retail stores are able to adjust price as long as they make up their costs. So they have the ability to make their own sales.

I download most of my games on 360. of course I check the prices though. if its cheaper on disc then i'll buy it on disc, but if it's the same price, i'll just download it.

@Tourette. The games will be the same price as discs and will be available to download the day of release which would be at midnight.

I don't think they will offer downloaded titles any cheaper than on disk. If they had any intention of doing that, they'd be doing it already. But xbox marketplace DOES drop the prices of downloaded games as they get older and the disc copies decrease, but
they keep the downloads at the same price as NEW (not used) copies. Check it on Game Stop .com right now, you'll see the xbox marketplace price is the same price as a new copy of any game you look up.

Used discs, however, are MUCH cheaper than downloads. They should match the used copy price, not the new copy price, and many more people would buy the downloads.
