Download speeds nowhere near what I should be getting.

One thousand apologies if this has been brought up or answered elsewhere, I did look but to no avail.

Basically speed tests through my ISP and on other sites are saying I should be getting around 9 or 10 mbps download speeds, and no matter what I try, the most I can get on my Xbox is around 1.2 mbps. I have tried both wired and wireless and I have tried
shutting off every device in the house that could possibly be using bandwidth. Nothing seems to alter it. Any ideas?

I wouldn't recommend getting an online pass. The game runs really laggy online. It's nowhere near the normal gameplay speed. Even after numerous patches I just can't tell people to spend money on this game. Online is bad.

 

What is it affecting?

If you worried about downloading, the publishers servers used to download the games will also have caps on the limits, so you can have the fastest internet in the world in won't make a difference.

If your referring to something else your going to have to give more info.

 

I'm in the middle of downloading Sunset Overdrive via the code I got with my Xbox, 4 hours later it's at 50%. Looking at the bandwidth usage in settings shows that it's downloading at about 1.2 mbps, when my internet speed should be getting me at least 9
or 10 per mbps. I don't know about caps on the limits, but surely they'd be higher than this?

 

Thats likely down to the publishers servers nothing else, and MS has no control over it.

It could be slow for a number of reasons (multiple people downloading at the same time), it does vary, you generally just have to put up with it, or experiment with different times and days to find the best ones.

It will also change based on the publisher.
