Download speeds are too slow/ Xbox One super hogs bandwidth

It takes days for me to download updates and games. One of the latest games was just under 1gb, and took over 24 hours to download. while the Xbox is downloading, no others devices are able to be used with greater than dial-up speed. Even non-downloading,
background Xbox connection hijacks bandwidth. Claimed mere kb usage in the background is either grossly exagerated, or there is a pirate living in my Xbox.

This is with an open NAT; DSL 2.5 average download speed (max seen 3.5); static address with Port 88 (UDP), 3074 (UDP and TCP), 53 (UDP and TCP), Port 80 (TCP), Port 500 (UDP0, Port 3544 (UDP), and 4500 (UDP) port forwarded.

Question #1 What ports are the background and forground downloads using respectively.

Question #2 Why is the Xbox download connection pirating my bandwidth and game performance?

Question #3 Why hasn't Microsoft added an option to turn on background update checks at a user specified time of day?

Xbox One download speeds lately are SUPER SLOW

Nah, it was downloading overnight and still had those speeds. I think it's related to GTA V alone though, because after it eventually finished I queued up the current GWG game for X1 (Tomb Raider) and viola, it was back to normal speeds.

Weird, but it seemed like GTA 5 alone had that issue. Go figure.

I'm down in Australia on Xbox One.

NBN Connection (100/40) and purchased GTA V yesterday on the Xbox One for download digitally.

Hardwired connection, Xbox IP in the DMZ, No port forwarding rules in place.

Speed tests on the Xbox itself show speeds over 80Mbit down, but bandwidth usage sits at 6Mbit?

GTA V is a 49GB download.

It's taken 20 HOURS so far and it's still sitting at 98%

Normally on my connection a 50 Gig download would take less than 90 minutes and has done in the past (I'm 100% digital on Xbox)

I have no other network issues at all and no one else leeching our bandwidth. It's purely an Xbox download speed issue.

What's going on guys?

 

I'm having this same issue. Xbox one seems to be always doing a system update or something every couple of days. Bandwidth usage says about 1 to 1.10Mbits/s. My dsl is 10 down/1 up. When this is happening everything on my home network can't even access
the internet. I run speed tests when this happens and my ping goes through the roof at 300 to 400 ms, my dl speed drops down to below 1mbps and my upload test usually fails or times out. I am on a wireless connection. I did move the Xbox one to a wired
connection in another part of the house and the same problem was happening. I did call support and went through a bunch of stuff already. It seemed to resolve itself at the time. The tech rep said it seemed like the Xbox was downloading a system update.
It was ok for a couple of days but now this keeps happening every second day. Really need some help to resolve this as nobody can go online for hours when this happens. Never mind trying to play online as every online game becomes super laggy. Anybody
know what is going on?

 

Only question #2 was answered by Support chat. I need a minimum of 3 to 3.5 download speed to download. Funny, didn't remember reading that on the box when I bought it!

Our computers, phones, cameras, and tablets can download on our networks at any speed internet connection, without the issues the Xbox One causes on the network. If anyone has a REAL answer, please post.

I've worked for an ISP for 11 years, running internet/wifi service calls in thousands of homes. I hate to tell you, I expect no less than 24 hours to download anything with that connection, and the rest of the house will suffer. Even 50x5 was outdated when
it was launched 5 years ago. When I'm on xbox one, and my wife is watching youtube, we both can see a slowdown. That's at 50x5, which speedtests at 62x6. Today, speeds jumped to 300x20 in my area... I haven't tried that yet.

MINIMUM speeds 3 to 3.5. It will work... barely. Unfortunatley, you must get more bandwidth. Good luck.
