    Hi,

I have a good internet speed (around 290 MBp/s en my laptop) but with my Xbox One i never go over 120 MBp/s. Is there a particular setting to activate ?

I use Ethernet cable and when i go to the "Detailed Network Statistics" menu it says "download speed" : 217 MBp/s but like i said i never go over 120 MBp/s.

    :)

    Download speed.

My xbox 360 takes forever to download DLC for Black Ops 2, yet speed test for my ISP says I have 15/2 mbps connection. Anybody else have this issue, and does anyone know what I can do to speed the Xbox download up?

There isn't a max download speed and no way to "activate" it, but you can run through this Troubleshoot Wizard to get it to max download speed, the next step would be for you to restart your network, if not then change your firewall settings, then the next
step and so on and so forth, this wizard will help but no guarantees that it will make it go faster although its something you could try.

Thanks for this answer but the link that you gave me doesn't work.

I already check everything on my network. My pc use all my internet speed (around 290 MBp/s), so the "problem" is really the Xbox One not using it. Why ?

Maybe it'll work this time, (Troubleshoot Wizard) but I wouldn't know exactly why your console won't take in more than 120
MBPS download speed, its more than enough for downloading anything really.

Thanks, it work but i already did all that.

I know that 120 MBp/s is more than enough but it bothering me that the Xbox refuse to use the full length of my internet speed.

    Hey there Olrid,

How are you connected to the console? Is it direct from the modem to your console using an Ethernet cable? Or are you also using a router. If you're using a router try a direct connection to the console and see if that improves the connection.

Also, different servers and devices are going to work with each connection differently. At 120Mbps you shouldn't have any issues with latency are you having connection problems at all in game?

    Let us know!

Hi, I really wouldn't read to much into the speeds the Xbox is showing you, I'm not sure just how accurate those are.

I use a wired connection and have a 200Mbps connection, if I run the Detailed network stats on the Xbox it varies wildy, it can show 112Mbps and if I then run the test immediately after it will show 330 or somewhere between 50 and 300 ( yes 300 )

There are of course a myriad of factors that can have some degree of effect on your connection speed but as someone once said " as long as it doesn't cause you problems in game or downloading it's not an issue " ( that someone was me Download Speed :)

    Hi,

My console is connected directly to my modem by an ethernet cable.

I don't have any problems with my games but i just want to know why my Xbox do not use my full internet speed.

A friend of my told me it's because my hard drive speed writing limit, is taht true ? I'm using an external hard drive "WD Elements 1To".

In that case should i get a SSD or SSHD ?

Hi, it's highly unlikely it's the hard drive. There are so many factors to take into account, your connection to the live servers isn't a direct one, your connection passes through so many places during it's journey and if one of those places slows things
    down you're up the creek.

Time of day can be a factor too, if I test my connection at peak times it's always slower, during the early hours of the morning it's pretty much maxed out.

If you're using a router then try a direct modem connection as even a router can slow things down a little, port forwarding may help but is it worth the hassle if there is very little wrong with your current connection?

The list of possible things that could be slowing things down goes on and on and it could take hours of fiddling about with things to then find out it made no difference at all.

Just out of curiosity try this, run the detailed stats test on your xbox and make a note of the reported speed.

Now go to settings/ all settings/ network/ advanced settings/ alternate MAC address. Select clear and then select restart. Test the connection again once the xbox has powered up, is there any difference ?

    Download Speed

    Detailed Stats :

    Download speed > 215.23 MBps

    Upload speed > 105.22 MBp/s

    Packet loss > 0%

    MTU > 1480

    Latency > 160 ms

I did the alternate MAC address thing and restart but it didn't change anything.

Holy cow, lol I wish I had those sorts of speeds. I honestly wouldn't be concerned that you're not getting your advertised speeds, ISP's advertise what your optimum speed would be under perfect conditions. Real life is different.

It's like those cars that will do 500 miles on a teaspoonful of fuel.

I now that max speed advertised is under conditions but my laptop is getting those number even more (around 290 MBp/s) in WIFI.

So i thought that an Xbox One who was built in the intent to use an internet connexion (cloud gaming....) would be capable to download games faster.
