Download speed issue with new Xbox One X

Hi,

I recently upgraded to an xbox one x at the weekend. Since then, the download speeds have been horrendous, to the point where i am considering returning it, let me give you some context.

My BB line (BT, uk based) is roughly 68mb down, 20mb up, i could download on the old One S , wireless connection, at about 30mb/sec.

So, i set up the One X, started to play games etc, update others, and i noticed it was taking hours for a relatively small file size to download. Also, half the thumbnails on the dashboard were missing etc, as they they hadnt 'downloaded'. I looked at the
wireless connection speed, it was 7mb, huge difference.

So, i powered it down, hardwired it to the router..powered back up, checked again..there is an improvement, up to 10mb..what is happening? Getting very frustrated.

Additionally, i did split the wireless and just set up a 5ghz line, which i tried, very small improvement. They one x is about 3m from my router, so no wall in the way etc.

During this time of testing, i constantly tested my bb connection, i also did a speedtest on Netflix, which resulted in 48mb speed at the time.

No ideas now, after a week of trying various things, im ready to give up.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Just want to say thanks for all the advice given so far.

I will test these out this evening. Prior to the things i have tried so far, i do test the speed of the line coming into the house, this seems pretty stable, around 68mb down/20 ish up.

The speed test through the tv/netflix, whilst using wifi and next to the xbox, records at 45mb+, each time, so is pretty stable, its just the One X that is poor.

I will try all the options offered below and hopefully find a fix and report back either way.

This is a highly unfortunate series of events, I would advise you to follow what everyone else is saying here but you may also want to contact your ISP, possibly coincidentally there may be an issue they're having or they can better explain to you your
problem Network wise.

Sorry to hear about your issue. Before power cycling, clear your MAC address and the local saved cache. Power cycle your Xbox (push and hold the power button until it shuts off and then unplug your Xbox for a couple of minutes). I also unplug my router
at the same time to force a reset of the internet. Plug everything back in and restart. Check your download speeds and NAT type (open). See if there is any improvement.

Hi there,

please try the manual power cycle steps like mentioned on the following link, be sure to wait at least 60 seconds before powering on again:

Also be sure to reboot the router/modem while the console is powered down.

This all the make sure there is no cache related issue causing this on either console or modem/router.

If that fails then be sure to try a factory reset on the console to see if that will improve anything
