  1. Download size to expect for my 360 games on X1?

I currently looking at if getting an X1 would allow some games to be played.

These I have checked should run:

    Alan Wake

    Just Cause 2

    Red Dead Redemption

    Dues Ex: Human Revolution

    Dirt 3

But what happends when I insert game disk from these into X1 drive?

Will all install from DVD's as on 360 - and then just a smaller patch downloaded online?

Or will X1 start doing full game download online when doing that?

I have very limited data 20G on my 4G modem(10-15Mbit/s) and need to know what happends.

No way I can download AAA titles, ever.

    Thanks.

    :)

  2. Looking for help on the Xbox One

If having really good internet, and flatrate in that no limit on amount of data - I might consider X1X still having 1080p monitor/tv.

What you can expect is that all games have more things to install/download. Some games buying on BD disk even have patch sizes 50-100& of game size.

Forza 7 is rumoured to be 100 GB - so think about that for a minute.

Many games now reduce resolution on X1 to 900p to get decent framrate - and you can expect to fluently run 1080p at even better framerates on X1X.

And more pretty visuals aspects even on 1080p can be expected on X1X.

All progress also has a penalty it seems.

    Download times

The problem with comparing to Xbox 36 games is the massive difference is size.

On Xbox 360, game downloads were usually 5-8GB for a big game. CoD: AW is 45GB or so.

There have also been widespread issues with everyone's downloads for this game being slow, which certainly does not help.

It very much depends on your download speed too (and the massive increase in size between Xbox 360 and Xbox One) but your future downloads should be faster than Advanced Warfare, which has been affected by some issues.

  4. Download size to expect for my 360 games on X1?

    Hi BookishFlunky90!

We don't have the exact information on the download size of those game titles, unfortunately, but they shouldn't be too big! The games will download over Xbox Live and shouldn't take too much of your data. We recommend downloading one title at a time and
seeing how much data that takes so you can adjust from that.

If you have any additional Xbox questions, let us know!

  5. Thank you. I'm just considering an X1, I don't have one.

    So evaluating pro/con purchase now.

AAA titles are common to be 30-50G in size on X1, so that is why I wonder.

I saw in the video about compatibility on a game, there were an estimate screen before the download - but that is rather late to discover I can never use this feature on the broadband I have access to.

But minor patches up to 5G or so each game I can spread over months to come, and do one game a month or so.

    Hey BookishFlunky90,

Took a look at some of the Xbox 360 games I have installed, and I'd say on average they were all about 6GB - 8GB. One thing that's handy is you can search any BC game on Xbox.com and get an idea of what the download size will be there.

Just a heads up, when you search a game on Xbox.com you'll get two sets of results; Xbox One games and Xbox 360 games. Be sure to select the BC game out of the Xbox One results, which will take you to the Microsoft Store where you can see this information.

    Hope that helps!

  7. Hi Mister Beep, thanks for input, really helpful.

So even if full download to be emulated inside X1, it's not bigger than that - seems doable on my connection.

I think normal update patches I've had on the 360 itself has been up to 600MB-1G just about, nothing more. I really hoped for being just a small patch, but 6-8G on AAA titles would not be too bad.

MS has flawed game search as of april some time, and you always get all media now - so you have to browse both music, film, games, demos and whatnot. But appreciate you consideration there, I will look out a bit.

Xbox One X vs Xbox One S

About X1X what I consider is

#1. if all downloads of games or updates will be sized hugely above on X1 launch I have.

#2. will BC ability be improved in that no further full digital downloads are necessary for 360 games - just install 360 disks and done.

If there is a compatibily handling built in - like PC has for previous operating systems - compatibily with XP or similar - run the same game.

This would be a huge sales point to me.

    Those are my major concerns.

Not to game, just to stream 4k, you could just as well run X1S.
