Download/Install question

Just bought an xbox one with the digital download of assassins creed, I then bought a disk copy of COD.

downloading assassins creed has used all my download allowance for the month, so my question is will installing COD from the disk use internet or will it be solely from the disk?

Hi Imp! This is a good question and, I hate to say it, but the answer is "yes and no." The game itself will just install from the disc, BUT, you will need to disconnect from the internet for this to happen. The reason for that is, when installing a game
while the network connection is active, the game will simultaneously download updates from the server and install them at the same time. By disconnecting from the network, it will ONLY install the game from disc, with no downloading.

NOW, having said that, unfortunately you will only be able to play Call of Duty offline until you are able to download and install the update, because the minute you connect to the network and try to play the game, it will tell you an update is required
before you continue.

Yeah it did help thanks! I'm alright with downloading smaller updates, just not the whole 45GB game!

 

Ah, okay, there you go then! Definitely, installing from the disc essentially installs ALL of the data that you would normally download for a digital game, but it comes from the disc instead of the internet. The only thing the internet is required for is
the updates (and I think the biggest one I've seen so far is like 2GB, usually they're no bigger than say, 400-500 MB.) Glad I could help!

 

Jaymo, Halo has a 15GB update. That's the biggest.

As for installation, when you insert the disc you will now be asked whether you want to take the update. You can decline and it will purely install from disc, which will be fairly quick (at least compared to AC:U), in which case if you try to play it later
while connected to the Internet you will need to take the update, which can vary in size. Otherwise you can play the offline portions of the game while disconnected from the Internet altogether if you wish to save your download cap.
