Download Games from PC to Hard Drive?

I live on a military base, and the internet at my house is horrific. However, the internet at my work office is much, much better. Before I attempt anything stupid, I wanted to ask the community:

Would I be able to successfully download an xbox one game onto an external hard drive from my PC browser, and then simply plug 'n' play (or plug 'n' install) the external hard drive into my xbox one back at the house? If that won't work, can anybody suggest
a workaround for downloading and installing games when the internet your console is connected to is highly unreliable?

The website will only allow you to queue a download. There is no way to directly download any games or content from the website. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions about the connection.

You had posted this question previously, to which Smwutches replied. There is no way to download an Xbox One game to a hard drive, that is not currently hooked up and formatted to the console itself. You will need to download it from your console. As Smwutches
mentioned in a previous response, you can only queue downloads from a computer or mobile device but you cannot download them.

ln that case, is there any way for me to prevent the xbox from shutting down or timing out on the download? The internet works at my house on base, but it's very, very slow. It would probably take 12-24 hours to download a game, if not more. I don't mind
just starting the process and letting it run, but I can't babysit the thing for that stretch of time to make sure it doesn't shut off.

 

Absolutely! It appears you don't haven't adjusted the "Turn Off After..." setting.

To do this:

1) Double tap your Home button to bring up the Guide.

2) Scroll down to Settings. Select All Settings.

3) Select Power. Under Turn off or restart, you will see "Turn Off After" - This allows you to set your console to turn off automatically when not being used. Your options are 1 hour of inactivity, 6 hours of inactivity or Don't turn off automatically. Select
the "Don't turn off automatically" and that will keep your console on even when you are inactive for extended periods of time.
