    I've tried several times to buy Xbox gift cards from several retailers, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Albertsons, etc, and the cashier cannot ring up the card. They say it comes up as "unable to sell at this time." The only place I can buy a card it Target but when
    they rang up a $50 card the total was $55. I asked why asks they say it's adding tax. Now later I bought a $50 card for PlayStation and the total was $50. Something is wrong. I'm not paying tax on a card so I can be taxed again when I buy content.

    It's best not to revived an old answered thread

    If you have an issue wish your taxation you must take it up with your retailer as mentioned in the thread I can garentee you inwont be taxed on gift card if I went to gamestop unless Ime buying it with another taxable item

    Taxation is between you ane the retailer it is that ssimple

    If you are being taxed on a gift card are you buying it with another item if that that's why

    Taxes don't come off just because you have one non taxable item

    If they aren't taxing ps cards take up the issue with the manager

    It is illegal to tax money unless it's in your jurisdiction

    Since ps card wasn't taxed then you need to talk to your manager

    Gift cards is most jurisdictions aren't taxable

    You can talk directly with your ombudsman about it

    And yes they will deal harshly with it

    Nothing will change unless you say something about it

    If it is in your taxable laws

    You can find the info from your taxation agency

    And then call the ombudsman

    What exactly do you propose Microsoft do? Phone up every single global retailer of their products every 60 seconds to make sure they are not illegally charging tax?

    I'm not trying to be rude here but if you went to Best Buy and they charged you tax on a non-taxable item then you will have to take it up with Best Buy. The Microsoft Points system was not taxed on either end because it was not legally money but the majority
    of consumers wanted Microsoft to get rid of the point system and switch to standardized currency. Legally--since it's real money now and not a point system--taxes must be deducted from your account balance anytime you make a purchase in the Game Store.

    Some areas are legally able to charge tax on gift cards however and you could very well live in such an area but if you normally do not pay tax on gift cards you should not have been taxed by Best Buy for the $50 Xbox Gift Card.

    That's typical as minimum transaction fees are included with that If you don't want to buy bigger increments then use a creditcard to cover the difference

    No taxation is an issue with the store and your local government
