Double TAX WTF!!!

So I bought a $50 card for xbox live so my son can get Call of duty Ghost season pass. I paid taxes on the $50 card. Now when we went to purchase the season pass of course its $49.99 plus tax. So guess what I couldn't get it for him because I am short so
he cannot buy the season pass. Why are we paying taxes twice??????

This system is screwed up.

Yolu will not be charged tax on a giftcard. That would be double dipping because you'd have to pay tax on the giftcard and then again on whatever you buy with the giftcard.

The system is not at fault. Any time you buy pre-paid cards, gift cards, etc. from retailers, you should not be getting charged a tax. If you were charged I would recommend taking your receipt back to the store to receive a refund on the tax charged for
the gift card.

 

Ya you don't pay taxes on gift cards ever as its is digital currency

That would be an issue with your store not xbox

So unless your government charges taxes on gift cards it doesn't go to xbox at all but the store

You are taxed on dlc purchases however

So if you buy 50 dollar dlc you must buy more then 50 dollar currency to cover the taxes

 

Ok so this is best buy fault. So shouldn't someone from xbox notify this problem. Instead push the blame to them and that's it.

 

To answer ngocphi . Guess what you can only add money to your account in increments of 15,25 and 50 dollars. So for me NOW I have to purchase a 15 dollar card to purchase this dlc. So what's ridiculous I should have purchased a 25 card and 2 15 dollar cards.
Wait till this starts happening to more people you guys will be flooded will calls and emails. Lol

 

That's typical as minimum transaction fees are included with that If you don't want to buy bigger increments then use a creditcard to cover the difference

No taxation is an issue with the store and your local government

 

Was this the plan all along. To get people to attach credit cards to their accounts because if they haven't already maybe because they don't want too or maybe can't .

 

You can buy an online code right from Amazon and instantly get it in your e-mail. These codes are available in $5, $10, $15, $20, $25, $30, $40, $50, $60, $70, and $100 increments. To suggest you can only buy it in 3 values is incorrect.

Listen, fine but no less there is a problem. People are getting double taxed. Blame who you want but there is a problem.

 

Even though the problem may not be your fault wouldn't you want to try to help the very consumers that is buying your product. Hmmm?

 

What exactly do you propose Microsoft do? Phone up every single global retailer of their products every 60 seconds to make sure they are not illegally charging tax?

I'm not trying to be rude here but if you went to Best Buy and they charged you tax on a non-taxable item then you will have to take it up with Best Buy. The Microsoft Points system was not taxed on either end because it was not legally money but the majority
of consumers wanted Microsoft to get rid of the point system and switch to standardized currency. Legally--since it's real money now and not a point system--taxes must be deducted from your account balance anytime you make a purchase in the Game Store.

Some areas are legally able to charge tax on gift cards however and you could very well live in such an area but if you normally do not pay tax on gift cards you should not have been taxed by Best Buy for the $50 Xbox Gift Card.

 

The issue is now dead for me. I have to say when people say " I'm not trying to be rude" and they are is kinda funny.

 

I just called xbox support and they didn't help me, so I called best buy where I got the season pass card. They issued me a 10.00 gift card, so you can get some money back for our BS. Hope that helps!
