  1. Double gray scale image on new TV when connecting XBox 360?

Trying to connect XBox 360 to a new HiSense 32" TV. when both units were turned on, a double image (in gray scale) of the XBox screen image appears on the TV screen. We used the color coded male plugs from the XBox 360 cable in the TV's female receptacles
of the same color. Two plugs were left over. One was a yellow plug. The other was a multi-pin plug. How do I fix this?

    :)

  2. HDTV question :/

How are you connecting the xbox to the TV?

As suggested make sure you are using your TV's game or pc mode if it has one. Is your TV trying to scale the image? It may have a "just scan" option.

Is it really worth setting the output to 1080p?

Always use what the native res of your tv, 90% of the time the scaler in the tv is worse the the one int he xbox so using its native res will be better then using 720p and having the tv scale it to fit 1080p pixels. Scaler in the xbox isnt bad, it wont
make the actual image look better but its good at making a 720p image into 1080p. Always use the the TV's native res.

To all that have input lag and picture quality questions...

What delay times are you thinking of because all the image scaling and audio processing is takes very very little time. Big reason the original designs of the 360 had dedicated image scaling encoder chips and after the slim still have dedicated hardware
image scaling encoders. Playing a game rendering a solid 60 FPS the frame will be color translated and scaled and waiting for the TV for the next frame refresh. I would think because of this it's better to let the 360 handle scaling than selecting a lower
resolution closer to the games rendering resolution which for a lot of games was a non standard resolution that had to be scaled anyways than for your TV to then upscale if you select 720 and have a 1080 TV which is a TV and doesn't put as high a priority
on scaling. In your case the TV still has to generate all the extra pixels that don't exist when it receives a 720 frame, but is a 1080 display even if you disable image post processing. As for audio all games are required to use the XMA audio format and
support Dolby surround so the audio processing wouldn't take any longer if you choose Dolby 5.1 or stereo.

There are issues with color space conversions that produced noticeable image artifacts, but that is because of the way the 360 GPU handles rendering and the secondary image scaling and encoding trying to compensate.

I would say almost anyone that has issues with input delay is probably some post processing effects on their TV or routing through an AV receiver.

Can my 360+TV do 1080p over Component?

Yes it can output true 1080p, but most games render at lower resolutions. Simpler games like XBLA arcade titles can often render in full 1080 resolution. Just a choice of if you want the 360 scaling the image to 1080 or your TV scaling a 720 image to 1080.
If the 360 is scaling it then you can also help avoid a lot problems people have where the display scaling and using post processing on the image causes a latency between actions and what happens on screen.

    -

Set your 360 to 1080 and turn off any post processing features on your TV. As for 360 color space formatting try YCbCr709 and RGB expanded and see which looks best on your TV. If blacks looks washed out try the other option.

    [quote user="BanjoApocalypse"]

There's also the issue of a game being in a non standard resolution. If you're playing halo 3, rendered in 640p, the 360 would upscale it to 720p anyway before sending it on. Setting your 360 to 1080p means the image only needs to be scaled once, instead
of having your tv upscale an upscaled image.

    It's scaled twice :(

Why can't I play Ubisoft games???

Thanks for the info Officer Snub,

So, what type of cable do you use to connect your Xbox 360 to your TV? Also, is your console connected directly to your TV, or is there an entertainment system connected in-between?

Take a look at the steps for when
Xbox 360 images on your TV are unclear
, and let us know if any of those help.

    Thanks!
