DOSed !! What to do?

So, as the subject indicates, my internet was DOSed. From my investigation on this matter, it is not uncommon. Actually it seems as about as common as rage quitting was 10 years ago, and is mostly committed by the same people. (spoiled teens who can't
deal with loosing)

This in and of itself is not such a big deal although still illegal, but this guy has taken it much, much further. He has called and harassed my whole family on our home phone multiple times. He has threatened to *** my daughter and wife and stomp my son.
He has pictures of us all, and our address etc...

We also have reason to believe he lives very close by, like within 15 miles. So this is a little bit more serious than if he was across the country. Basically, we believe he has the means, and will have the opportunity to carry out his threats.

He has also ordered pizza and had it sent to our home. Also he threatened to max out our credit cards and steal our identities. So as you can see this is more than just a harmless prank. This is something that I, as a father, absolutely MUST take seriously.
I would be not be a good protector if I didn't.

He has indicated that he believes without a doubt that he can't be caught and there will never be consequences for his actions. If he truly believes this, then he is dangerous.

Strangely enough this all started without ever playing a game with my son. My son was actually playing with someone on his friends list and was in a party with him. This guy was also friends with this player but not of my son. He joined the party and
was talking to the player when he started bragging about what he could do. My son, being 11 didn't believe him. He's a good kid and is a little naive about bad seeds out there. So this hacker felt that he must flex his internet muscles and scare an 11 year
old by getting his ip and then tracing it to tell him what city we live in. Well, this kinda backfired because our ip shows a city nearby, not our city. (not sure why) And my son tells him "wrong, we don't live there". The guy thought my son was lying to
appear not scared so they basically got into in argument and my son was not backing down, because, well...he was right. It was kinda funny. Hacker boy didn't think it was funny that his muscles had failed to produce fear in this *** child threat to his hackerhood,
so he escalated everything to the above. Even though my son wasn't schooling him in Black ops or something, he was still loosing and being spoiled as he is, couldn't take it. So here we are.

This brings me to the reason for this post.

Customer support told me that this forum is monitored for such things and that something could be done. I'm beginning to believe they don't know what they are talking about though as customer support is sub contracted and they aren't even Microsoft employees.

So what can be done? Anything at all?

I've already contacted my ISP...they can't do anything unless a report was generated on my pc (which wasn't even on at the time of the attack so, no report)

I've talked to the police and they took a report. They don't have the resources for this sort of thing. But if he rapes my wife and daughter, then they can run a *** kit and get DNA. (not really wanting to wait for this though) The case has been referred
to a task force but it's probably not a priority.

Turns out my ISP is basically lying and of course they can tell me the ip where the attack generated from, but they won't. No isp will. They don't want vigilantly justice to make a huge public relations spectacle of their company. (imagine a guy kills
a teen internet stalker, and it comes out that he found out who the kid was through an inquiry to his ISP...."Comcast" would be persecuted in the media) So basically they won't release any info to anyone w/o a badge.

So is there something Microsoft can do with this guys gamertag? Can he be banned? Can he be frozen? Chilled? Can a nasty email be sent out to his mommy and daddy? What about a supportive email giving his parent parenting advise, or the name of a good
counselor? Anything at all, or are we all just wasting our time here?

I got a new IP....I got a new gamertag...he and his friend our not on our friends list, and he's been blocked. So we got bullied, harassed and threatened. We jumped through hoops (and still are with our credit card companies), and have been inconvenienced
to say the least. What, prey tell will happen to this guy?

Being DOSed repeatedly by a member of xbox live.

I have been repeatedly harassed, and DOSed by an xbox live member. I have blocked him, and I have reported him, and I am still getting DOS attacks from him.

 

Did the Dragon frequency get patched?

I don't believe it was patched but it may of been dosed a bit to where they stray away from towns. Considering that most have a problem with random vampire raids.

 

You can file a complaint on the user via the console and the enforcement team can investigate the issue and will probably ban him. But since DOS attacks are not done through the Live service, there really isn't anything else Microsoft can do.
