DoS/ DDoS attack and Rank reset

A player threatened me, called out my location and internet provider, and then proceeded to boot my entire network offline (not just Xbox live) for over half an hour. I contacted my internet service provider who has documented everything, as well as xbox
live. I want more information on the particular gamer so that I may file a police report, as well as as a lawsuit for invasion of privacy. If I am not mistaken, this kind of behavior can be classified as cyberterrorism. It cannot be tolerated or treated as
equal with the usual Xbox live complaints. I understand that Xbox will not share any of the gamer's personal information with me, but Xbox should cooperate with me in this and investigate. This is a very dangerous, egregious violation of the Xbox live policy
as well as both federal and state law regarding privacy. Contact me as soon as possible.

    :)

DoS or DDoS attack and what to do.

    Overview

If you play games on Xbox Live, you could experience a denial of service (or DoS) attack or a distributed denial of service (or DDoS) attack. Such attacks may render your device (that is, your Xbox 360 console or your computer) temporarily unable to connect
to the Internet or to Xbox Live.

If you have an Xbox Live account, your Xbox 360 console could experience a DoS attack or DDoS attack from another Xbox Live account. DoS attacks and DDoS attacks are sometimes used as retaliation between Xbox Live gameplayers.

If you think you've experienced a DoS or DDoS attack, we recommend that you reset your Internet router and contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP). If you know who initiated the DoS or DDoS attack, you may also want to submit a player review to Xbox Live
and avoid the attacker in the future.

DoS/ DDoS attack and Rank reset

Sorry to hear it. Unfortunately you cannot get a players personal information. Only the police can do that via a Subpoena to Microsoft.

As for the DDoS attack, if it happens again unplug your modem/router for 10 seconds and then plug it back in. This should get it up and running again.

The ISP should be running their own investigation as well into the individual. As for your IP address, it only gives a general location and not a specific address. Your ISP should have been able to change your IP address so the person cannot do that to
    you again.

    I.P Address/Bans

If you're currently experiencing a DoS or DDoS attack, try resetting your Internet router (that is, your DSL or cable modem), which may resolve the DoS or DDoS attack. A complete reset requires turning
off the power for 5 to 10 minutes. This will increase the likelihood that you will get a new IP address that the attacker will not have access to.

If you still experience the DoS or DDoS attack, contact your ISP.

My buddy was a victim of a DoS attack, I have evidence that heavily insinuates the user was hitting people offline

you will need to tell your local authority as it is a criminal offence to ddos someone.
Actually, I'd avoid law enforcement at this step- typically Denial of Service attacks are resolved relatively quickly (5-10 minutes with a system refresh) and then we would advocate reaching out to your ISP.

What should I do if I think I've been attacked?

If you think that your Xbox console or computer has experienced a DoS or DDoS attack, do the following:

    • Reset your Internet router.
    • Contact your ISP.
    • If you are certain of the identity of the DoS or DDoS attacker:
      • Contact the attacker’s ISP.
      • File a complaint against the player with Xbox Live. Select the "tampering" category on the complaint form.
    • Avoid that individual on Xbox Live in the future.

What can I do to stop the attack?

If you're currently experiencing a DoS or DDoS attack, try resetting your Internet router (that is, your DSL or cable modem), which may resolve the DoS or DDoS attack. A complete reset requires turning off the power for 5 to 10 minutes. This will increase

How can I find out who attacked me?
