DOOM Closed Beta: Have You Been Told Your Code Is Used Already?

The Doom PvP is good, but thats the issue, if it was an arena shoot from an indie developer it would be a good thing, but this is Doom, the oldest game of the genre, and an icon IP, I was expecting much much better game play the jumping is slugging and slow,
I don't think the guns do enough damage, and most are pointless I resorted to only using the shotgun an rocket launched and think I got killed by only 1 other gun 1 time.

I also think this with other games suffer from a lack of tutorials, there are a number of things I would have thought were important and should be known before starting to play.

I like the game modes and like a lot about it, but its certainly not exceptional, and I won't be buying it at launch, which I was going to.

Actually Quake Online, and the other quakes and unreal tournaments are much better pvp games than this.

The ones saving graces I guess, is its nice to have a different arena pvp game, i though it was more fun than halo 5.

I bought New Order and Old Blood and still didn't get a code or access. Not fussed though because it's not the reason I bought them. But a bit sloppy their part.

I thought the gameplay was solid. It was really fast. When you get the demon power-up it's awesome because you can fly. I can't see myself or many others sticking with it for to long. SP is what this game will be all about.

 

Only managed a couple of games but quite enjoyed what I played.

It was more like Quake/Unreal which I prefer to the majority of online shooters you get now.

My combination, after seeing some ridiculous things, became the shotgun and the sniper. Mostly used the shotgun.

I did see players taking 2 hits from the demon thing. I was that a few times. I hit the player and he just ran up to me and did a melee which played a melee kill animation. Saw this happen a few other times to others as well. Did not feel the game was
all that good really in terms of the MP especially with the issues I saw that will most definitely be there at launch. Guess it is a wait and see if the campaign seems to turn out well.

 

Don't think I'll Bother Az. I'd probably just give the code away anyway. Like others have said. I'm more interested in the Single player.

 

To their credit they are offering a different sort of Multiplayer to the HALO / COD formula already out there.

1 big issue is does this current MacDonald's Generation have the patience to appreciate a different style or will they just write it off as being poor because they don't immediately succeed at it.

Also is our future DOOMed if our Space Marines are firing rockets that need to hit more than twice to kill someone.

I am not so sure. I mean, it is nice to throw out "McDonald's Generation" or some other thing in situations like this, but that may well not be the case for many. Just seems we are getting these terms thrown around a lot now. Seems like that is a common
thing now however. Seems like everywhere you look there are these labels of some sort being thrown out. Especially if someone does not agree with someone else.

For me the game played like the old Halo style with a slight mix of gears. One speed really with weapons that take multiple hits which is no big deal. And then, really, the shotgun is your friend here (think Gears). Outside of the Revenant powerup I was
not killed by any other weapon besides shotgun really. I think I might have been killed by an assault or rocket 1-2 times when I took out another player and had little health left.

Of course this is just my opinion but the mp had a generic feel to it. There is nothing wrong with that either. Most definitely and old style of play here. If you are looking for a basic, straight forward, fun, low skill mp then this is it. I did have
fun with this and fun it what it is all about. Just not sure how long that would last.

 

one big question has to be, where was the chain saw..........
