Doom 3 from Xbox app not starting on correct monitor

Hi, is there a fix for this yet? I just tried playing Doom 3 on my laptop outputting image to a TV via HDMI. When I'm on the notebook screen, the game runs just fine, but on the TV it just starts booting and then closes - even after I set my notebook to only output image to the TV screen. I even tried opening the game on one screen then sending it over to the other, but once I do this it just closes itself without explanation.

I understand you need help on your monitor problem.

You may check your display settings to see where it is being set up at the moment and I suggest you make the monitor as primary set up so that the game will also be shown on there.

Open your Windows Settings. You can do this by clicking the gear icon in your Windows Start menu, or by pressing Windows key + I on the keyboard.

Click System. If you're using Windows 10, it'll be the computer icon in the Settings window. If you have Windows 11, it's the first option in the left menu.

Click Display. It's in the left panel on Windows 10, and in the right panel on Windows 11.[2]

Select a display option. Now you can choose whether you want to mirror or extend your displays:

If you're on Windows 10, click the drop-down menu under "Multiple Displays." On Windows 11, click the drop-down menu to the right of the "Identify" button.

Select Duplicate these displays if you want to see the same exact thing on both screens at the same time.

Select Extend these displays if you want to use the second monitor as a continuation of your desktop space. This lets you drag windows between screens.

Select Show only on 1 if you want to use the monitor labeled "1" as your only monitor. This is your laptop's built-in screen. Choosing this will turn off the external monitor.

Select Show only on 2 to only show your laptop's contents on the monitor that's labeled "2," which is the external monitor. This turns off your laptop's built-in screen as long as the external monitor is connected.

So, I just resolved the issue with Doom Eternal in the weirdest way.

I had to "re-install" every Xbox App game after reinstalling the Gaming Services package by navigating to the game's page in the Xbox App. I started with Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, and that worked just fine. I then tried Doom Eternal, and launching it after "re-installing" it failed with the same error message as before.

I then launched Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy again, waited for the Launcher to appear, clicked Play, and when that game started up it also launched Doom Eternal for some reason - both games started simultaneously, with Doom starting a moment after Guardians and appearing on top.

I went through the initial setup, logging in, confirmation prompts in Doom, changed the resolution, and quit out. I then also quit out of Guardians. I tried launching Doom Eternal again from the Xbox App, and it started up just fine. So Doom Eternals appears fixed, and I have no idea why launching Guardians of the Galaxy fixed it, but it did.

I am disappointed and confused with how much trouble I've had with games from the Xbox App, considering that Microsoft controls both the OS and the app, particularly when everyone else - from giants like Steam and Ubisoft to small platforms like GOG and Itch.io - have figured out how to digitally distribute games that just work. I suspect it has a lot to do with the Universal Windows Platform that the Xbox App uses.

http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/games/doom-3-bfg-edition/103102 Release date 10/16/12. Its also only $39.99. I loved Doom 3 on the xbox so I will be buying D3 for sure on the 360. I already have the original Doom for the xbox arcade so it will be
nice to see the servers running for that again. Maybe I can grab a couple more achievements from that.

Yes Doom 3 still wont even start on my laptop (as is commonly reported in all of the one star reviews as well). Can you fix this game please as all the others (Flight Sim, Forza Horizon 5, Doom (2016) Steam version) run fine. If I could get an XBox version of Doom 2016 that'd do because I don't have HDD space (or the inclination) to install the Steam app.
