Dont own game despite having the disc & disc not being recognized

From the description provided it seems you cannot play Civilization VI on your Xbox console.

This issue may have been caused by settings in Xbox that need to be changed. Or it may also be a problem with your Xbox account. So let us work together as a team to get to the bottom of this. But to better assist you I need to ask:

1) Which Xbox console do you have? Xbox Series X? Xbox Series S? Xbox One?



2) How long have you had this issue? Days? Weeks? Months?



3) When was the last time you were able to play the game on your console? I need an exact date.

4) Using our Find your games and add-ons guide is Civilization VI shown as one of the games you owned? Photo below for reference.





5) I've reviewed your description twice or thrice now and it appears there are some troubleshooting steps from the following guides that were not performed. Can you please perform them and see if that resolves the issue?

Some users reported having issues of the game not detecting you owning the license for the game when you use the disc version.

You might have to do the following, if you wish to play the full game, and despite the disc being in the drive the game won't show you own it:

With the disc in the drive, make sure the console has the disc detected. Then find the Call of Duty game in the Xbox Store, and install the necessary add ons that come with the game from the Xbox store, that should show an install button instead of a buy
button, as long as the disc is inserted.

Since you mention you are getting the disc version:

Are you sure the disc game is working? Are you able to test it on another console?

This might be caused by the game disc not being recognized since the game uses the disc to check for ownership.
