Don't make a "slim" console this gen

If you asked me what do you think Xbox 1 was going to look like a few weeks before it launched, I would have said it looked like an oversized VCR my parents would have used. But now, I don't really mind the size of it. As for the external power brick idea,
there are good healthy reasons for having it external rather than internal. Overheating one of them. HP makes laptops with external power bricks, they don't try and jam it into the device as it could cause overheating. A reason why XBOX 1 is big, is it has
better air-flow inside. This is a contributing factor why Xbox 1's AMD 8 core Jaguar processor runs at 1.75Ghz where as PS4's is only clocked at 1.6Ghz. I joined Xbox late 2010 with a slim 360 console. And one of the things I'm kind of disappointed about Xbox
1 is you can't change the internal HDD like you can with Xbox 360. Microsoft has official HDD's which you can change for Xbox 360 easily without voiding warranty or worrying about getting banned for fiddling with hardware.

What makes Xbox 1 better than Xbox 360, is it has 8GB of faster RAM than just 512MB from last gen, and it has a newer processor and graphics card too. It also has Xbox 1 Kinect (use for full HD video chat on your console via Skype app, voice chat, game chat,
party chat, scan QR codes to redeem codes, gestures, voice commands). Certain people may say wow Xbox 1 looks big. Others can simply say... I know, great ain't it.... it's a brand known worldwide. No need to be shy about being "big". Think big, do big. Think
    small.... do small.

I like small too, it doesn't mean big/fat is always bad. Honestly some people can be far too discriminative.

I also watched some of technobuffalos youtube videos. Xbox 1's internal hardware components definitely runs A LOT cooler than the competition. Hardware should last longer when it has super-good ventilation like what Xbox 1 has. Microsoft learnt their lesson
from last gen regarding earlier Xbox 360 models. So they went big. It would still be appreciated if they made a slim model, but I've learned to accept my Xbox 1 Day 1 Edition with Kinect, design. I watched another Youtube video of two men who took apart the
Xbox 1, they said the Xbox 1's fan was BBIIIIIIGGGGGGG. Youtube video titled: What's Inside Microsoft's Xbox One Console, by Tested, it's a 14-15 minute long video. I think Microsoft went toooooo far with their ventilation. It just clearly reiterates they
have learnt their lesson from Xbox 360.

  3. "1. If it was built right, it wouldn't fail."

I have to say I wish my first PS4 had an external. The power supply quit and I had to replace it. And it does add heat. We have multiple PS4 units and they all get noticeably warmer than our One consoles. Not a knock on the PS4 or anything but they do.

As for a slim I would be fine with that. For some people it may be desired due to space. I have plenty and do not mind the way the console looks.

As for hdd upgrade that would be good as well for those who want it. I prefer the external approach because of this: If I add an external 2tb I have 2.5tb total due to the external. If I replace the internal with a 2tb I only have 2tb. Currently I have
an external that is small and fast. It runs my games great and takes up no space really. I put all my small games and such on it. And leave all my bigger releases on the external.

And honestly I am surprised we do not see a disc-less model for those who want to go digital only. There are some out there that would do that. Could cut some cost from that model and that would provide incentive for some people to move digital. But that
    is another topic.

The xb1 is gigantic and ugly, but it's a safe bet for not overheating. It still looks like a VCR but that doesn't matter because retro hipsters like me had a vcr when there was no discs.

Internal PSU has been the woe of the original PS1, XB and Dreamcast. Why Sony went internal for the PS4 is beyond me. However my PS4 doesn't get that hot, I've been lucky in this era of lead free solder.

Microsoft wanted to be extra safe with ventilation, and they learnt their lesson from early models of Xbox 360. They went big so that it has better airflow inside. If we're talking about big, you should see the windmill inside it, or if you want to be formal,
aka the large fan inside. It's a reason why Xbox 1's AMD Jaguar 8 core APU is clocked at 1.75GHz where as the competition is only clocked at 1.6Ghz. Better ventilation/airflow means the components should function better, rather than be under stress and sweating
aka feeling like a heater, inside. I think they've future proof Ventilation for Xbox 1 because of the way they designed it.

  6. The X1 being BIG does not aid in cooling.

What does aid in cooling is the fan setting directely atop the hottest part of the unit and expelling the heat upwards.

The weakest part of the unit is the lead free solder which will crack with use, so much so that NASA nor the Armed Forces will use it.

This, and not the cooling, was the primary reason for RROD in the PHAT 360 models.

So with regulations calling for lead free solder 2B used in consumer electronics. MS designers put the cooling fan directely over the CPU/GPU. But all that extra space was a complete waste of it.

New Xbox One(s) on the Way?

    Two new consoles?

One will definitely be the slim but as for the other an upgraded console would make a lot of people a bit annoyed as were only 3 years into this gen

    Power brick making noise

I'm uncertain about 1st gen xbox 360 consoles, but slim power bricks have a fan built into them. So don't worry. Your console is functioning as it should.

Why isn't final fantasy tactic's coming to xbox or next gen consoles

It's not up to the current gen (not next gen) consoles to "give it a shot". Square Enix needs to make it. If they don't make it, you don't play it.

New 250GB hard drive with 2005 mfd xbox

the slim hard drive cannot work with the older gen 'fat' 360s that had clip on drives, the slim drive only fits inside slim model 360 consoles.

    disconnecting issue again

I would try resetting the router and modem first I have a first Gen Xbox and a Slim one. My first gen works fine but the slim version has problems connecting wifi, I have to reset my modem and router to make it work.
