Don't buy xbox wireless controller if you're using pc.

The triggers will not work for any games that you want to play and they make it impossible to configure it in a simple way. They are pushing for the elite on PC which is much more expensive than the wireless controller even though it is Bluetooth compatible,
kinda shady.

It charges? If it's charging but non-functional I'm going to assume you're using a Play and Charge kit. These don't actually connect a wireless controller to a PC but will charge the controller. If you want to use a wireless controller on a PC then you
need to purchase this:

Problem with controller register

What if I don't have Xbox One console? I am a PC player and I bought Xbox One Wireless Controller because I think this is the best controller I ever used, I even bought Wireless Adapter for PC and for me it's perfect kit to play. Also I can't understand
why I need to register console first if I can buy only controller.

Granted, I haven't tried connecting the controller via Bluetooth, but I was using a Day One Wireless Controller together with a Micro USB cable and recently the Xbox Wireless Controller that comes with the Oculus Rift and the Wireless receiver, and the triggers
work completely fine.

Even the rumble from the impulse triggers works with Forza Apex on my Windows 10.

May I ask what game you are trying to play that doesn't work? And what operating system are you using?

That wireless gaming receiver only works with 360 controllers, not Xbox One controllers. The Xbox one controller uses a different wireless protocol.

If you have Bluetooth for your PC you can pair the controller and use wireless this way. If you don't, you can buy any BT 4.0 USB dongle and connect using that. The dongles cost no more that $8.

Or you can buy the official Xbox One wireless receiver for Xbox One controllers.

Ahh, that explains it, thank you very much. Unfortunately I don't have Bluetooth inbuilt in my PC, but I can definitely buy a dongle. Does it need to be specifically a BT 4.0 dongle?

That depends.

For Xbox One controllers, you can simply buy any Xbox One controller and a Micro USB cable, and you can use it right away on Windows 10.

If your PC has Bluetooth capability and you have at least Windows 10 Version 1709 installed (1803 or 1809 would be better), you can even connect the controller wirelessly via Bluetooth.

Alternatively, if you want to use the controller wirelessly, but don't have Bluetooth, you can buy a Wireless Gaming adapter for Xbox One controllers. For example

this set with controller and wireless USB adapter included.

As for Xbox 360 controllers: You will HAVE TO buy the
Wireless Gaming Reciever for Windows, or make sure that you are buying a
WIRED controller for Xbox 360 and Windows PCs.

Don't make the mistake of buying a wireless Xbox 360 controller and a Play&Charge USB cable for that controller. The Play&Charge cable will NOT transmit the controller input. It will ONLY provide power for the controller and battery charging, but no input.

TL;DR: Buy
this controller, and you're set, as long as you have Windows 10. For Windows 7 or 8 you need to fiddle around with drivers.

XBOX controller is not used on the PC. If you want to play on the PC with XBOX controller you need Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver
