Don't be fooled Xbox one requires internet

Thanks for the paper weight. I live in the middle of no where can't get home internet. Drove a distance to a friends house, did the initial setup then installed and updated rise, dead rising 3 and forza 5. Only to find out that campaign requires internet.
This is the best loop hole I've ever seen with the disk based games here's the quote from xbox one "Your Xbox One doesn’t need to be connected for you to enjoy offline features of games. In fact, you can take the Xbox One anywhere and play any disc-based Xbox
One game on it. The only times you need an online connection are for initial set-up of Xbox One, and to get the latest system and title updates before you start playing some games. Basically after a phone call to the support line they tell me that there are
some games that can be played offline. Guess what all the good games save to cloud which means when you play single player campaign it has to save on the internet. No longer can you game without an internet connection. Now I'm screwed no one will return it
being opened. So thanks again xbox one Now how about making it right and giving me a refund

Xbox One the Facts

It is my understanding that an internet connection is required out of the box, otherwise the console will not work.

Whether they change this for later released models is another matter,

Dear Microsoft,

I'm writing this post to say that the Xbox One should not require an internet connection in the the first time we were setting up the console.

Remember that not everyone has an internet connection. These people won't be able to enjoy the console because of that.

Don't you think of those who don't have an internet connection?

Consoles were made to always work offline. The internet connection should always be optional.

I hope the next Xbox that you launch doesn't require an internet connection in no time.

If a certain game says that it requires an internet connection to play, I would say the developer is to blame, not MS

 

your doing it wrong somehow, I can play all my games offline, the only 1 that I need a connection for is nfs rivals, the rest play offline fine

 

If you go to settings then network hit disconnect from internet and try to play any of the top games offline. It will not work all of your saved data is stored on cloud which requires internet. The manager from xbox one support said there are very few games
that can be played offline

 

When I insert the disk it loads up and says press button to play. Once you do it asks you to sign in, select sign in and it pops up an error code because I'm not connected to the internet. If anyone has any suggestions I'm more than willing to try them,
but the manager from the xbox one support line just kept apologizing saying he wishes there was something they could do.

Are you able to disable cloud from the dashboard?

Your default save location should be your hard drive,not cloud.

The console trying to access it is what will probably be causing the error.

I do not have an xbox one so this is guess work,but its what i would try on the 360.

 

It was a mandatory condition to keep it connected online at all times originally before Microsoft back flipped and as a result some of the release titles still require an online connection to function.

 

Yeah the more I hear about this console the more I dislike about.The entire r&d team should be fired and the xbox division needs to be sold to someone who will make a console for gamers rather than making a data mininig tool for governments and big corporations.I
nickname this box Judas cause its a betrayer to the fans who supported this company.We were sold out to the highest bidders.

 

I'm not sticking up for anyone here, maybe I miss herd? But I thought Microsoft stated the Xbox1 needs to update every 24hrs? Not necessarily need a internet connection 24/7, but to be able to update once a day. I could be wrong cause they flipflop what
they said a few x.

But I feel for ya, that sucks. I couldnt imagine not having internet at hand ugh.....well hope u figure something out.

@OP -- The console has been out for almost 2 months and this is the first I've heard of anyone having difficulties playing offline.

 

Yeah, I've been able to play my games offline just fine. You only need internet for the initial set up.

 

well if you can't use your xbox one can I have it ? I would be glad to use it for more than a paperweight XD

 

Xbox one works fine offline.
