    Dolby vision supported for gaming added in alpha ring


    According to Forbes, dolby vision is now supported in certain games replacing HDR.

    They are the only place reporting this and being in the alpha ring I thought I would test it and it doesn't work ( my TV isn't telling me I'm viewing vision content anyway)

    Is this actually real news? Because it seems like a big thing to lie about

    I'm not sure if this is a certain users kind of thing or if they are referring to the skip ahead but I thought more places would have written about this if its true

    Xbox One X Dolby Vision games support

    Yes, Xbox One X does support Dolby Vision with games that have the feature. Mind that this is 12bit color and not simply 10 bit color.

    The feature may be only with select insider rings in the xbox insiders program for now, it may not be out to the general public yet. You can check below to see if it's available on your console:

    To setup this feature, first check if you have a compatible TV by going on your Xbox to the 4K TV Details page under Settings. Look for "Your TV supports Dolby Vision" there.

    Next, enable Dolby Vision on your console by navigating to Settings -> Display and sound -> Video output -> Video modes -> Allow Dolby Vision.

    It is still in test at this point in time. It may come out with the fall update, which has no release date yet.
    In other words, as a simple user with xbox one x and compatible tv, I can't be using Dolby Vision until update?

    ps Fall update - before december, correct?

    If you're not in the alpha or alpha skip ahead preview rings in the xbox insider program you will have to wait, yes.

    I do know about the gaming part. I was asking the question if the Xbox Series X could have the Dolby Vision added into the BluRay app so, that 4K BluRay movies can enjoy Dolby Vision as well.

    Honestly the Dolby vision would be the best option until more things are supported that utilize the 3k 120hz rate. Dolby vision will definitely increase the quality of games and apps
