Dolby Vision Support for Xbox One X

I preordered the Xbox one x which many of us on here will receive next week. Because of this, I need to now purchase a 4k TV. I'm in the market to purchase a premium 4k TV. I've done extensive research on 4k TVs and learned that basically all premium TVs
such as LG B7, C7 E7, G7 and Sony A1 have Dolby Vision features. I'm targeting at getting a 65 inch LG C7 or B7. The others are a bit out of my price range and don't need their upgraded speakers since I already own a sick Bose surround sound system entertainment.
However as the heading states, Dolby Vision is superior to HDR10 and I'm abit frustrated that Microsoft didn't add this feature to supposedly the best advance console but how advance is it if it's missing Dolby Vision which is the most advanced visual in the
    market right now.

Microsoft, many of us are about to drop seriously $500 plus tax next week..please add already Dolby Visual support and make us all happy with our purchase. It will make us feel abit good about spending $500 plus tax and you can seriously make claim that
we have the most advance console in the market without it I will feel I'm being cheated and abit robbed of my $500 plus tax hard earn money. Make us Happy!!

    :)

  2. Xbox one x vision support?

I understand that the Xbox One X is not going to support Dolby Vision out of the box. Is the hardware strong enough and fast enough to support Dolby vision? So does anybody know if there will be a future update that will upgrade the Xbox One X to a Dolby
Vision player? Thank you for the help.

Xbox One X Dolby Vision games support

    Greetings.

There's an official list of Dolby Vision supported games by Dolby:

    Games in Dolby

Does Microsoft's Xbox One X console support these games playback in Dolby Vision format?

Your right that Dolby Vision is better than HDR10, however the differences are marginal at best, and only true TV calibrators will be able to see the difference.

The reason Microsoft went with HDR10 and not Dolby Vision is that HDR10 is open, it doesn't cost anything to make a TV HDR10 compatible, all you have to do is meat the specifications and your good to go.

Dolby Vision on the other hand costs money, the vast majority of cheaper HDR TV's are going with HDR10 and only the more expensive "premium" TV's have Dolby Vision and HDR10.

On a side note, you may want to look at not getting an LG B7/C7 and using it with you soundbar, I've read loads of scare stories of people using these TV's with a soundbar and getting pretty bad lip synch issues, just a warning.

I understand that and frankly don't care. When I spend top dollar on a top TV then I want the player that provides the best to go along with it. The Xbox x game playing ability makes it the choice IF it can do at $500 what the other top of the line players
can do at $300. No Dolby Vision no sale. I want the best and currently this is not it.

Dolby Vision should have been used from the get go with the XB1S, not just the XB1X but MS went with the cheap option. HDR10 may be open and free but thats also a liability, the huge range of quality in HDR10 implementations gives often very poor results,
were not just talking TV's here but content too from games to movies, it's a constantly moving target. Some games now even include their own HDR calibrations tools to try and offset the problem.

The TV makers can never be trusted to do the right thing, MS should have known that and gone with Dolby Vision making it bulletproof in setup and with a consistency across the board so no matter what TV you buy it has to be Dolby Vision certified and do
things right. HDR10 should have been the backup not the primary for those not willing to pay the premium for Dolby Vision.

As for the lack of DV in XB1X well that says it all really, not even an optional paid download for the Blu-ray DV movies, Apple on the other hand knew exactly what people wanted and chose DV for the AppleTV 4K.

Dolby Vision - Blu-ray player app

I got a response from Customer Service: no support for Dolby Vision on Blu-ray app on Xbox One X at the moment (not even on Xbox Series X).

They said they are working on that, since a lot of people made complaints about this issue. I hope it's true, it's ridiculous to not support Dolby Vision nowadays on a device that has been promoted as a valid Blu-ray player.

    Dolby Vision in Games

    Hi

All of the information that I could find leads to Dolby Vision support only being limited to Netflix on the Xbox One X. I can't find any recent information suggesting that Dolby Vision is fully supported for games on the Xbox One X. Maybe the feature is
only available for games on Windows 10.

I'll be trying to find clarification on whether or not Dolby Vision should be fully supported at this point on consoles as it was only supported for Netflix during launch so it's possible that the support for games has not been implemented yet on the consoles.
Thanks! It is just strange that Dolby did not make it's primary product into games on Xbox still...
