    Dolby Vision on Series X|S is currently messing up (washing out) regular HDR games and contents


    As a follow up to Halo Infinite bad/broken native Dolby Vision implementation (which also needs to be fixed ASAP) I want to report that currently disabling "Dolby Vision for Games" flag from Xbox Dashboard -> Video Settings but leaving the general "Dolby Vision" flag for media apps enabled will result in washed out HDR in games.

    It seems to be a nasty bug where "Dolby Vision" for media flag is somehow messing up regular HDR resulting in very dim/flat and washed out HDR in games (not only Halo Infinite in HDR, but also Forza Horizon 5 and many other HDR games too), no matter trying changing in-game HDR sliders for them = they suddenly do nothing with that flag enabled.

    Only by completely disabling Dolby Vision from the console (both for Games and Media) all HDR games return to normal and this is not ideal for someone like me who would like things as they were before (working HDR for games and Dolby Vision for Netflix and Disney+ only, at the same time).

    Please have a look at this because it's really a Priority 1 bug to fix for me and most others with very expensive Dolby Vision TV like LG OLEDs (bought in combo with a brand new Series X|S).

    Hi I have a Xbox series x with a Dolby vision compatible tv also will the allow Dolby vision playback selected in settings on and it still only displays in HDR only when playing 4k blu rays ? I have set it 4k 60hz and the games display in Dolby vision plus streaming apps but not 4k disc playback! Is this correct that the xbox series can’t do this ?

    Xbox one x hdr issue

    Xbox One S or Xbox One X have the HDR10 and the Dolby Vision. (dynamic HDR)

    All the games right now are on HDR 10. So verify what type of HDR have your TV.

    Hello

    As Sandy mentioned you also need the proper cable for it. You can't use the regular one that comes with the Xbox.
    That just isn't true.

    The cable that comes with the Xbox one S or X will do 4K 60hz, HDR, Dolby Vision etc.
