  1. Dolby vision 120 hz confirmed by all engineers

This is a LEGIT question , so moderators please don't remove it.

    To the Insider program ,

I own the LG Nanocell 85 ( as same for thousands of people I'm sure) I reached out to LG customer support 3 days ago to find out if the Dolby Vision 120hz firmware update will be coming, for ALL LCD/Etc etc.

I was told yes definitely, the engineers already confirmed it will be. Has anyone hear any dates or chatter online ?

Xbox Series X Allow Dolby Vision/Dolby for Gaming and Allow Auto Low Latency Mode

Unless your going to fork over 1000s of dollars to get 1 of the 5 manufacturers that have 2.1. Dolby vision will not work with ALLM.

Performance of hdr10 is not relevant nor is ALLM.

Dolby vision does not work with ALLM. This is confirmed that this is by design. You choose between the higher fidelity of Dolby vision over Game mode ALLM.

    Xbox series S 120hertz support

My guess is, you need HDMI 2.1 for 120 Hz to work. the whole 120 Hz is kind of complicated but I know one of the main requirements is a 2.1 cable. Or you will be stuck at 60 Hz.

Note : 2.1 on all three (console, cable and the monitor).

Can my Xbox series s run a 1080p 165hz monitor?

Hello, David R. I'm Arturo, and I'll be glad to provide assistance with your inquiry today.

Xbox Series X and S consoles support a maximum frequency of 120 Hz. Therefore, you will not able to set or see 60 or 120 Hz.

Besides that, it is important to clarify that you need to check if the monitor you want to get supports 120 Hz via the HDMI port, most monitors support 120 Hz and above via Display Port only.

You can check if your monitor supports 120 Hz via HDMI, if the timing is exactly 120 Hz and not (for example) 119.99 Hz and more by checking the manual or contacting the manufacturer.

I hope you find this answer helpful to your inquiry.

    Kind regards,

    Arturo.

Dolby Vision - Blu-ray player app

Of course the Blu-Ray disks I'm using are UHD and have Dolby Vision.

Dolby Vision is enabled on Xbox One X settings, TV HDMI ports are in Enhanced mode (4:4:4 4K/UHD HDR 60Hz), and the TV test (that can be found inside Xbox menu) returns all green ticks for my Xbox-to-TV connection.

As said, Dolby Vision works with all streaming apps... but not when playing Blu-Ray UHD Dolby Vision disks.
