    Dolby digital on XBOX Series X


    I have XBOX series X and its plugged into LG 4K TV and i have LG soundbar SL-6Y 3.1 with support for DTS:X and Dolby Digital plugged to ARC port on TV but i just see an option stereo uncompressed for audio. And in XBOX audio check it says my TV doesn’t support dolby digital or DTS:X where my soundbar has support for both. I use it in Netflix and Amazon Prime.

    I tried to plugin XBOX to soundbar but my resolution drops to 1080p and than i get support for Dolby Digital/ DTS:X and 5.1. I am using HDMI 2.1 cables for both. My soundbar has HDMI 1.4 for both ports.

    Urgent help needed. I don’t want to spend on new soundbar if i have compatible system.

    Yes i know it doesn’t support dolby atmos but it supports dolby digital which xbox series x does and i connect xbox to hdmi into soundbar it does give me option for 5.1 but resolution drops to 1080p

    I have also a issue with dolby atmos

    I have a sony x9005f wtih sonos beam gen 2 if i play straight from the tv the beam sees the dolby atmos sound, but if i am playing my xbox series x i get only dolby digital dts en 5.1 uncompressed. I dont see the option for dolby atmos. How can i fix this?

    I am having a very similar issue with an LG 4K TV and a Vizio soundbar that supports 5.1 Dolby digital and DTS. I connect my Xbox series x to the TV and use the ARC HDMI cable to connect to my soundbar. When I try to switch the audio output on my Xbox the only option is stereo uncompressed. I'm very confused. The audio config check on Xbox on my TV says it only supports stereo when I know for a fact my tv supports pass through surround.

    Thanks for your reply. When you have you soundbar connected to ARC on your tv do you have Bitstream enabled?

    Thanks for reaching out to the forums! We are sorry to hear about your issue and would like to help out. I have done some research on the soundbar in question LG SL6Y: 3.1 Channel Sound Bar w/DTS Virtual X & High Resolution Audio | LG USA and it appears that the soundbar does not support DTS:X or Dolby Atmos due to it not supporting 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound but is does support DTS: Virtual:X which the Series X does not.

    With this particular soundbar your only audio option will be stereo uncompressed. I am linking the Xbox Support page concerning console audio settings so that you may see what your audio options are for your Series X console. Choosing speaker audio settings on your Xbox console | Xbox Support
