Dolby Digital Issue

since the preview forum link is busted and has been busted since last week, I am creating this post.

I am previewing the March update and have noticed an issue when switching the console audio to Dolby Digital. When I switched my system to the dolby digital option I notice right away that it puts out a distorted signal making my speakers crackle and pop.
I thought my speakers were blown at first but then I switched it back to DTS surround and that mode is crystal clear.

This occurs when watching TV, playing a game, and watching a movie. I have confirmed my speakers are not blown and are hooked up correctly. The crackling goes away when switching back to DTS or 5.1 uncompressed.

I have the same issue, I read an article that said the Xbox One will not support Dolby Digital at launch.

Dolby Digital update Xbox One, when?

The back of the Xbox One games lacking Dolby Digital Logo is also not there for digital purchases under games also. The Xbox 360 always gave the resolution and Dolby Logos both for physical and digital content. I think this is an issue that needs to be escalated
in support.

 

This is a known issue, might be corrected for tomorrow's big release. Hopefully.

To fix it, do a hard reset, hold down the power button for 10 seconds.

For the time being stick with DTS unless you need to use Dolby Digital for headphones. DTS is a better audio encoding than DD.

 

They must have fixed some of the initial audio problems with DTS from launch. When i first got the console at launch, i set it to DTS and would experience a similar audio issue when watching tv. The crackling wasnt subtle though.

Since switching back to DTS, I havent had this issue so it looks like they fixed this in the recent updates since launch.

 

Same issue hear. Dolby Digital through the optical wire is causing snap, crackle, and pops in my movies. Kind of sucks !!! I hope they fix this !!!

It's not fixed in the official release. I have the same issue.

that is not true Jimmy. It is only a temporary fix. It comes back every time. I had the beta and the full. microsoft needs to fix it.

 

I have same issues DD over HDMI and Optical are both crackling and popping

 

Same issue here. Dolby has been a disaster on Xbox one.

 

still the same issue, audio choppy, cuts out, distorted, "crackle/pops"...i guess to wake microsoft up we'll just have to rma our consoles. A few thousand to hundreds of thousands of consoles coming back may wake them up to the problem. Im waiting on the
april patch, and if its not fixed im getting one that doesn't pop/crackle.

 

Same here. DTS works fine but Dolby Digital on my xbox one crackles. I panicked thinking i had a blown speaker. I put the same movie in my blu ray player and it sounded perfect.
