Dolby Atoms Disabled after Plugging in Headphones

My issue is that when my xbox is setup for Dokby Atmos everything is running fine. But when I plug in headphones to the controller the Xbox switches off Dolby Atmos and places the receiver settings permently to Uncompressed 7.1. Why does plugging in my headphones
    affect this?

    :)

as well as Dolby Headphone output. Disable the button and all you have is a glorified amp that can mix some two-channel inputs.

I use mine with a Dolby Digital Live sound card (AuzenTech Prelude X-Fi). My PC sends a 5.1 signal to the MixAmp and it uses Dolby Headphone processing to create a surround field using only the left and right drivers in my headphones (Astro A40). It's either
that, or buy a Dolby Digital receiver, five speakers and a sub.

Using earphones on a wireless remote

Check that you have fresh batteries in the controller, as the controller turns off some features when the batteries get low to conserve battery power like rumble and headphone sound.

Also, can you go to the Settings under Display & Sound and check the settings there. If you have set the headset audio to "Dolby Atmos for Headphones", be aware that you need to have PURCHASED the Dolby Atmos for Headphones app.

If you simply downloaded the Dolby Atmos app for free, you only get a 14 day trial of Dolby Atmos for Headphones. After 14 days, Dolby Atmos for Headphones stops working.

You can switch to "Windows Sonic for Headphones" to get the same spatial surround sound effect "for free".

Dolby Atoms Disabled after Plugging in Headphones

    Hi G3N,

Thanks for your post. To troubleshoot this, try a soft factory reset. A soft factory reset will reset your console to factory settings, but keep your games and applications installed. To do so check out this article:

    Xbox One Factory Reset
. Be sure to keep your Microsoft Account login information available to sign back in to your profile and select
"Reset and keep my games & apps" to prevent needing to reinstall content.

Let us know how this goes, thanks again.

After latest update, Dolby Atmos for Headphones reverts to Windows Sonic after reboot

More observations. When you visit the audio menu after rebooting (w/o headphones connected), you see Windows Sonic. However, if you plug headphones it automatically goes back to Dolby Atmos for Headphones. So maybe it's not broken, but it works differently
than before (where it always said Atmos whether the headphones were plugged or not)?
