    Dolby Atmos Sound Problems

Hi - I downloaded the Dolby Atmos app last night and ran into some issues with the sound. For background, I have a home theater with a Marantz SR7009 receiver connected via HDMI 2.0 cables to my XBox One (launch day model). I have a 9.2.2 system setup
with 3 front, 2 side, 2 surround, 2 subwoofers, and 2 height speakers. I have an AudioSource AMP-100 connected to the receiver to power the height speakers.

When I downloaded and configured the app and tried to test it, the display on the receiver changed to show Dolby Atmos so everything looked good. However, instead of the expected sound, all I heard was a set of "clicking" sounds coming from all of the different
speakers. It appears that the sound is travelling to the right speakers (including my height speakers), but it's garbled/distorted noise instead of the correct sound.

I tried using a different HDMI cable, tried reinstalling the app, and rebooted everything but no change. Any thoughts on what might be going on or how I can fix? I ran out of time to try an Atmos blu ray so perhaps it's just the demo app, but I'll give
that a try later tonight. Thanks for the help!

    :)

Xbox will only output sound in Dolby Atmos

Since the April Xbox One update, my Xbox will now only output sound in Dolby Atmos mode, even when the content I am watching does not support Dolby Atmos. Before the update, there would only be Dolby Atmos sound when the show or movie I was watching supported
Dolby Atmos. This isn't all that bad, except with Dolby Atmos I am unable to change the sound mode that my soundbar outputs. For example, when I am watching sports, I can't change the sound to sports mode because it thinks my cable service is somehow providing
    Dolby Atmos sound.

    Dolby Atmos Sound Problems

I have the exact same problem. I also have the Marantz SR7009, its clearly getting an Atmos Signal but it’s got that distorted crackling sound. I had this happen in the past when I first tried using Atmos with a PC a couple years ago to play Star Wars Battlefront
the first Dolby Atmos compatible game and it was a cable issue, I was using to long of an HDMI cable switched to a shorter one and it worked.

However this time I have tried 4 different cables and nothing works, I tried it months ago on an original Xbox One could not get it to work, and now the same thing is happening with my brand new Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition. I was hoping the problem
would go away with the new Xbox One X, not happy that it doesn’t. It has the problem with both the Dolby Atmos app demos and when I booted up Gears of War 4, does the same thing, didn’t try a 4k Blu-ray but I assume it would have the same problem since everything
else that outputs an Atmos signal seems to.

I have also tried using an HD Fury AVR Key which extracts the HDMI Audio so you can send the audio to an older non-HDCP2.2 receiver and HDCP2.2 video to the TV, since the Marantz SR7009 doesn’t support HDCP2.2 and I don’t feel like
spending a couple grand getting the newest version that does when I can get this little AVR Key for $150. It also doesn’t work; it does recognize the Atmos signal though, but still the same distorted crackling sound. The HDCP2.2 video to the TV works fine
though, so it’s not a handshake issue like you get using non-HDCP2.2 hardware.

I have basically run out of things to try and must assume that it’s a firmware issue with the Xbox One or software issue on the Dolby Access side of things that make it incompatible with first generating Dolby Atmos receiver’s like the Marantz SR7009. It’s
just weird because there are no error messages like I see a lot of other people having online saying there receiver is not Dolby Atmos capable when they are, it just seems to think everything is working, when it clearly isn’t.

Dolby Atmos audio from Xbox One is delayed

    Hi

I have the same problem like you. I have an Xbox One X connected through HDMI cable to an Onkyo amplituner 7.1 which is capable to decode Dolby Atmos & DTS X.

I have installed Dolby app on my Xbox to get Dolby atmos sound and the result was that I have on all the games no matter if these are with sound in Dolby Atmos or not only in Dolby Atmos.

Is very strange to get that. I have supposed that when I buy a game with sound in Dolby Digital 5.1 to have Dolby Digital 5.1 and when I buy games in Dolby Atmos to get Dolby Atmos in my amplituner Onkyo.

The same problem I have with all the movies from Netflix. I installed the Netflix app on my Xbox One X and now all the movies I see have sound in Dolby Atmos, even if in the name of the movie on Netflix it is said the sound is recorded only in Dolby Digital
    5.1.

What to do in that situation ?......I have tried every settings on my Xbox without any result.......When I put settings on output sound in Xbox everything I played is all in Atmos.

Like you said: "We don't need everything to be upscaled to Atmos, we just want Atmos to work on stuff that is Atmos as it should!"

Thanks in advance for everybody give me every piece of advice

What will happen if you use dobly atmos to the games that doesnt support?

the sound system should be able to play anything ok . For some reason my dolby atmos system shows everything in dolby atmos. No problem with sound if not. It must just automatically drop to what it is 5.1 etc. 🤔

Xbox One X Periodic Audio Cut Out - SJ9 & Atmos

I have the same problem, but my Xbox One X pushes Dolby Atmos to non Dolby Atmos movies. Also my Xbox pushes out HDR to non HDR movies. It's very frustrating that the sound cuts in n out even when I play Shadow of The Tomb Raider that's Dolby Atmos. Even
Avengers Infinity War sound cuts in n out. Since I have a Geek Squad warranty, I took my LG SJ9 to Best Buy. They tested all Dolby Atmos scenarios and never once did they have a problem with the soundbar in Dolby Atmos mode cutting in n out. There's something
wrong with the Dolby Atmos signal the Xbox One X uses that the SJ9 has problems decoding.

Check your Audio Receiver 0x80bd0009 Dolby Atmos

The optical port won't allow him to get Dolby Atmos sound though, so that might be an issue for the OP. ARC (not eARC) doesn't support Dolby Atmos, so maybe that's the problem here?
