Dolby Atmos on Xbox One X = issue !

    Hi to everyone,

Few days ago I just bought an Xbox One Xespecially to have Dolby Atmos on selected games and
Dolby Atmos from selected movies on Netflix.

I have also an amplituner/receiver Onkyo 7.1 which is capable to decode Dolby Atmos & DTS X.

My tv set is Samsung JU7000 4k ultrahd, smart tv, I have Netflix installed on it and all the movies are only with sound in 5.1 (is not capable to get out sound in Dolby Atmos to my amplituner).

I connected my Xbox One X through HDMI cable to Onkyo amplituner 7.1 and from amplituner to my tv set Samsung also with Hdmi.

I have installed both Dolby app on my Xbox One X to get Dolby atmos sound and Netflix app.

I received together with the console codes for 2 games: one is Forza Horizon 4 (with Dolby Atmos on soundtrack) and second one Forza Horizon 7 (without Dolby Atmos on soundtrack).

I have done all the settings on Xbox console regarding Dolby Atmos sound.

Now appears the "problem": ALL the games I play (FH 4 and FH 7)
no matter if these are or not with sound in Dolby Atmos the console get out sound only in Dolby Atmos. My amplituner recognize the
    sound input like Dolby Atmos.

Is very strange to get that. I have supposed that when I buy a game with sound in Dolby Digital 5.1 to have Dolby Digital 5.1 and when I buy games in Dolby Atmos to get Dolby Atmos on my amplituner Onkyo.

As you all know on games label is specified what is the sound of the game: Dolby Digital or Dolby Atmos or maybe in the future will be DTS:X.

Is seams that no matter what game you will buy according with Xbox Console the sound will be provided only in Dolby Atmos. It is strange.

The same problem I have with ALL the movies from Netflix. As you know Netflix provided short information regarding the movie you want to see: sound of the movie: Dolby Digital or Dolby Atmos, HD or 4k Ultra HD, HDR or non HDR, Dolby Vision
or not, etc. Now ALL the movies I want to see (even they are only in Dolby Digital 5.1) the console Xbox One X provided to my amplituner only in Dolby Atmos.

I have also an Egreat player to play MKV movies and Bluray Player to play original Bluray disc and all the time my amplituner read correctly and decode the sound it received from Egreat and Bluray Player. If movies was recorded with DTS HD MA 7.1 the amplituner
get out DTS HD MA 7.1.

I don't have any situation in that the movie has only Dolby Digital 5.1/DTS 5.1 and amplituner get out Dolby TrueHD/DTS HD MA/Dolby Atmos.

What to do in that situation?......I don't believe after 2 years from 2017 to have such a problem on Xbox console and nobody to resolve it.

I have tried every settings on my Xbox without any result......Everything I played is all in Atmos.

I don't need everything to be upscaled to Atmos, we just want Atmos to work on stuff that is Atmos as it should!

Thanks in advance for everybody give me every piece of advice!

What to do to resolve this "problem"?

    Romeo.

    :)

Dolby Atmos on Xbox One X = issue !

    Hi RomiDumitru,

*maybe* this "problem" is exactly how the Dolby Atmos App on Xbox One X works.

Dolby Atmos native content? perfect! Dolby Atmos playback.

No Dolby Atmos? the App upmix current audio track to Dolby Atmos (the headphones features works in this way).

I don't know if is intentional.

Netflix Not Outputting Dolby Atmos On Xbox One

I have the same problem on Xbox X and XBox One. I’m using the Denon AVR-X 2700H 7.2 channel Dolby Atmos receiver with the XBox X, and the Yamaha RXV-6A 7.2 channel Dolby Atmos receiver with the Xbox One. Both receivers were working normally outputting Atmos on Netflix until November 2022. Disney+ and Amazon Prime play Atmos content on both devices without issue, hence indicating that the problem is not with the 4K TV and 4K projector, nor receivers.

Dolby Atmos audio from Xbox One is delayed

    Hi

I have the same problem like you. I have an Xbox One X connected through HDMI cable to an Onkyo amplituner 7.1 which is capable to decode Dolby Atmos & DTS X.

I have installed Dolby app on my Xbox to get Dolby atmos sound and the result was that I have on all the games no matter if these are with sound in Dolby Atmos or not only in Dolby Atmos.

Is very strange to get that. I have supposed that when I buy a game with sound in Dolby Digital 5.1 to have Dolby Digital 5.1 and when I buy games in Dolby Atmos to get Dolby Atmos in my amplituner Onkyo.

The same problem I have with all the movies from Netflix. I installed the Netflix app on my Xbox One X and now all the movies I see have sound in Dolby Atmos, even if in the name of the movie on Netflix it is said the sound is recorded only in Dolby Digital
    5.1.

What to do in that situation ?......I have tried every settings on my Xbox without any result.......When I put settings on output sound in Xbox everything I played is all in Atmos.

Like you said: "We don't need everything to be upscaled to Atmos, we just want Atmos to work on stuff that is Atmos as it should!"

Thanks in advance for everybody give me every piece of advice

Xbox One X Dolby Atmos not working

My Xbox One X is connected to my receiver. When I try to setup Atmos in the audio settings Xbox One X says that my receiver, Denon AVR-4300H, does not have Atmos capability. I am only allowed to choose DTS for the bitstream sound output. Atmos works fine
with my Samsung 4K player so I know it is an Xbox One X issue.

The Dolby App does not give any error until I try to view the demo videos where it flashes, "you are not viewing this video on Dolby Atmos." It plays the demo video on DTS instead.
    ***UPDATE***

I finally got Dolby Atmos to work!!! Under "Settings, Display & Sound, Volume, Setup TV & AV Control, Audio" I had to change the default "Stereo" setting to "Surround Sound." The Xbox One X had to reboot to accept/change the setting. Once it rebooted Dolby
Atmos was working. It is interesting that the main control will be under the volume settings instead of audio output. You would think the system will be smart enough to activate surround sound when you are choosing Dolby Atmos to bitstream.

Hopefully this "difficult to find" change of setting will work for others who are having Dolby Atmos issues.
