Dolby Atmos on xbox one suddenly stopped working

I don't have a solution for you, unfortunately, but wanted you to know I'm having a very similiar issue. I have a Sony STR-DN1080 receiver and Dolby Atmos was working fine for over a year, then suddenly last weekend (at least that's when I noticed it), no
more Atmos. I didn't have a freeze, but the Bitstream format reverted to DTS on its own and I get an error that the receiver doesn't support Atmos when I try to go back to the Atmos Bitstream format. I opened a similar thread yesterday:

I have the same Xbox OS version as you too.

Someone else was having Dolby Atmos issues with the K950 soundbar in this thread here. They said, they
contacted Samsung support, and the issue was resolved.

Unfortunately, they didn't say what the solution was, but you can contact the Samsung support to get this issue resolved.

I have narrowed the problem down to the Microsoft Xbox One X.

Today I purchased an Apple 4K TV and plugged it in to the Denon AVR-S950H. When I switched to the Netflix app and started playing "Formula 1 Drive to Survive", the Denon receiver displayed "Atmos", which it should have done.

When I switched to the Netflix app on the Xbox One X and attempted to play the same video, it only displayed "Multi In". Again, I have changed the settings on the Xbox to what is supposedly the correct ones to enable Atmos. The only time I can get
Atmos sounds is when Im playing an Atmos enabled 4k Ultra HD Blu Ray. I played "Fury", and it works. Atmos does NOT work anymore when playing games or using the apps such as Netflix or Prime Video.

I hope that Microsoft engineers are browsing this group, because I have cross posted this problem on Reddit and have received three other comments from people who have experienced the same sort of thing within the last few weeks.

I got exactly the same problem as you, I just purchased Denon AVR-S750H. All I can get is Multi-in when playing games or Netflix, the funny thing is Netflix was able to detect that I got ATMOS so I am sure it works but not having the display bothers me.
Playing Ultra Bluray disc works without any issues too. I am wondering if is Denon issue or the new update of the xbox one x software.

It sounds like you are able to select the Atmos Bitstream format in the audio settings and get some content to play in Atmos (4K UHD Blu-Ray) but not other content. I'm actually unable to choose the Atmos Bitstream format at all in the settings; the option
is there, it just consistently errors out and reverts to the DTS format.

I even went into my Sony receiver settings and tried a number of "Sound Effect" options (Dolby Surround, Neural X, and A.F.D, which is the preferred setting). Nothing so far has made any difference. Just seems like some incompatibility has been introduced
between the Xbox and the receiver for Atmos. Hopefully, the next Xbox update will fix or undo whatever was done.
