    Dolby Atmos on Samsung HW-K950/XY

    Hi folks,

I have an Xbox One S (in Preview Ring 3) connected to HDMI 1 of my Samsung Dolby Atmos soundbar (HW-K950/XY) and the soundbar connected to HDMI 4, which is ARC on my Samsung 4K TV (UA55KS8000W). One Connect box thing.

Dolby Atmos worked fine in Blu-ray right up until the recent spate of updates (when they introduced the Dolby app and the "Dolby Atmos for Home Theatre HDMI Only" option in the audio settings.

I've followed all the setup instructions to the letter, and my prob is that when I set the audio of the Xbox to the Atmos setting I get no sound whatsoever from the Xbox, not even system sounds. The Dolby app doesn't play Dolby Atmos, let alone any sound
at all. Same deal with Blurays. I cant see any "known bugs" in the latest build for Xbox pertaining to Dolby Atmos, and I've scoured the net for solutions, to no avail.

Please, if anyone has any suggestions, I'd be ever so grateful. I'm pulling my hair out and despairing of ever having Dolby Atmos again.

    Thanks for your time,

    :)

  2. 4k Blu Ray issues.

I just bought the 4k version of Man of Steel but my Xbox One S tells me that I have to disable the audio that'll decode it in Dolby Atmos. My setup is Xbox One S 65" Samsung 4k tv and Samsung HW-K950 sound bar system that supports Dolby Atmos.

  3. Dolby Atmos

I have a Samsung HW-K950 and trying to get Dolby Atmos out of my Xbox One. Samsung can only listen to Dolby Atmos bitstream through HDMI. It seems like Xbox can only send out Dolby Atmos through s/pdif. Is that true? If so is this something that will be
fixed in a later firmware? I bought the Xbox primarily as a BD-player, but if I cannot get Atmos to work it is kind of useless for me...

  4. Dolby Atmos on Samsung HW-K950/XY

@rgrtht I've just posted the following on the Samsung community as it appears to be a handshaking issue between the Xbox One S. There appears to be no one solution but a random series of trial and errors. I've also sent the same thing to Samsung asking them
if they have a firmware update in the offing:-

"Is anyone having issues with playing 4K HDR movies on an Xbox One S when passed through the HW-K950 and ending up with a blank screen (no picture) but having sound? I've found that simply powering down then powering back up the soundbar brings
    the picture up.

However, I am also wondering if anyone is also experiencing issues with 4K UHD HDR discs defaulting to 1080p? In one instance Deadpool wouldn't even play (gave me an error code and intimated that the sounder couldn't decode the sound) even after
powering cycling the soundbar. I then uninstalled the BluRay player app, power cycled the Xbox One S, re-installed the BluRay player app. It then played Deadpool but only in 1080p, however I did have picture and Atmos. I then took Deadpool out, inserted Fantastic
Beasts and this played in HDR and Atmos, took this out and put Deadpool back in and lo and behold this now played in HDR and with Atmos. This thing is driving me absolutely mad!!! I've managed to get 4 discs to play with HDR and ATMOS but only by sheer luck
of randomly power cycling the K950, unistalling and re-installing the BluRay player App, power cycling the Xbox One S, and swapping discs one after the other."

I must admit I haven't had any other issues with regards to the Dolby Atmos app or sound from any other source, games or Netflix for example which all play as expected even in Atmos where applicable.

I'm not sure if this helps but have you tried power cycling the Soundbar whilst a BluRay is playing. It certainly worked for me.

Dolby Atmos quit on me this morning

Background on my setup. Samsung HW-K950. Running a 5.1.2 setup and it's worked fine for months. Now in order to have any sound output from the xbox I have to change the audio settings to
HDMI audio > bitstream out / Bitstream format > Dolby Digital. Before I could leave the second setting set to
Dolby Atmos for home theater (HDMI only) and it worked fine.
