Dolby Atmos not outputting to my reciever

    I have a launch Xbox One X and a Onkyo tx-nr686.

I can not get Dolby Atmos to play from the Xbox unless it is a Blu Ray Disc. My receiver says it is receiving PCM Mult-channel even though under the Xbox audio options it is listed as Bitstream out and the format is listed as Dolby Atmos for home theater.
I can get Atmos from my Fire Stick 4K, so I know it works. And I even swapped the HDMI cable with one I've used to get Atmos before, so I know it isn't the cable.

I've been trouble shooting and researching this issue for weeks and I'm about to ditch the Xbox and get an Apple TV 4K as that seems to be the only thing that streams atmos across all the streaming providers.

Any advice, help, info, would be appreciated.

    :)

    Hello all,

As this is an old thread, I will be locking this one. Updates, games and everything changes often so would be best to create a new thread. Once a new thread is created we will be happy to assist you in any issues or questions you might have.

Dolby Atmos for Headphones for Xbox

    Hello,

I have almost the same issue. I've bought Dolby Atmos for Headphones from Microsoft Store, connect my headset to controller and set audio output to Dolby Atmos in my Audio Settings page. But sometimes it is roll back to Windows Sonic! I've launch Dolby
Access app, check that in settings page selected Dolby Atmos For Headphones, close this app and get back to Audio Settings, change Windows Sonic to Dobly Atmos.

Only party audio playing through headset?

Is it possible that you set your sound output for headphones to Dolby Atmos and didn't buy the Dolby Atmos App?

If so, you will be able to try Dolby Atmos through Headphones for 14 days, after which it'll stop working.

You need to switch to basic Stereo or Windows Sonic if you want spatial 3D sound without paying for Dolby Atmos.
