Dolby atmos issues

since the update my av receiver is in constant Dolby atmos even when using Netflix and games that don’t support Dolby atmos before the update my surround sound amp used to auto switch between different sound fields has anyone else had any Dolby atmos problems

Xbox will only output sound in Dolby Atmos

Since the April Xbox One update, my Xbox will now only output sound in Dolby Atmos mode, even when the content I am watching does not support Dolby Atmos. Before the update, there would only be Dolby Atmos sound when the show or movie I was watching supported
Dolby Atmos. This isn't all that bad, except with Dolby Atmos I am unable to change the sound mode that my soundbar outputs. For example, when I am watching sports, I can't change the sound to sports mode because it thinks my cable service is somehow providing
Dolby Atmos sound.

 

Dolby Atmos Problem bei 4K Filmen

ich hab folgendes Problem, meine Xbox One X spielt die Dolby Atmos App sowie Assassin’s Creed Origins perfekt im Dolby Atmos Tonformat ab.

Sobald ich einen 4K Film einlege (Logan, John Wick) mit einer Dolby Atmos Tonspur (Englisch) bekomme ich nur noch ein Dolby True HD Tonformat angezeigt. Ist das ein generelles Problem?

Vielleicht hat jemand das selbe Problem...

Yes its now broken with the update, for watching netflix with a real atmos setup 5.1.2.

The receiver thinks its atmos but its a 5.1 or even a 2.0 stream hidden in a atmos package.

blu ray works fine atmos is atmos and 5.1 is upscaled by the receiver to dolby surround with use or al your atmos speakers so it must be.

 

I am experiencing this as well. Everything comes across the av receiver as Dolby Atmos, when previously it switched as needed.

In my opinion this a legacy issue. The xbox is (as far as I know) the only device that makes you choose between dolby and dts in it's setup and can't automatically identify and switch between these audiostreams. The implementation of dolby atmos on the xbox
platform was riddled with issues eg no sound or random crashes. An update was eventually issued but if you ask me this was a programmer's workaround. The way it works is that the bitstream now has forced atmos encoding. This is not beneficial to the quality
of non-atmos audiostreams.

I do not presume to tell Microsoft how to do what they do best but I would humbly ask them to completely redesign the way the xbox handles proprietary audioformats. If a small Chinese company like Himedia can do it right then surely a giant like Microsoft
can do better.
