    I am switching between a headset for gaming(rig 800) and using a reciever(denon avrx1500) for streaming video. I have the dolby atmos app and it is unlocked through the headset. if i want to use the reciever for audio in atmos i have to plug in headset
    into a usb port until the headset assigned notification comes on. after i have to disconnect the headset from the usb port to allow the audio out option in setting to be selected. then i can change to bitstream out, dobly atmos. sometimes i also have to
    go into the dolby app and select home theater. this process has to be repeated every time i switch between the headset and reciever or the console is powered off. is there a way around having to do this everytime? IE, pay for a second dolby permission,
    or a setting or option im missing?

    *maybe* this "problem" is exactly how the Dolby Atmos App on Xbox One X works.

    Dolby Atmos native content? perfect! Dolby Atmos playback.

    No Dolby Atmos? the App upmix current audio track to Dolby Atmos (the headphones features works in this way).

    I don't know if is intentional.

    If the game does not support Dolby Atmos, then the audio is normal stereo. Microsoft are working on updating Dolby Atmos, where if the game does not support Dolby, the audio will be converted to simulate Dolby Atmos.
