Does your Day 1 Edition not read discs? Easy FIX!

Yay I have the Xbox 1 Day One Edition with Kinect I went to the midnight release. But I haven't had any serious issues with the disc drive. It's a Philips one they put in the console. Sometimes it makes a sort of scraping noise but doesn't damage my discs,
and says it cant read the game/DVD disc. I just eject it and re-insert it and that fixes it.

I only tend to use discs wiith the odd exception (dlc, digital only releases etc), its quite simple to use an external hdd, just make sure its usb 3.0 plug it in the xbox then go to settings to format it for the xbox and your off.

The roller that pulls the disk into the drive will get dirty, (dust). Keeping your disks as clean as possible will help, but the roller will still get dirty at some point.

friend of mine started having this problem today with his day one, and this worked for him, just wanted to pop in and say thanks for posting.

I'm old school and like having the physical disk, or in old days cartridge. Wouldn't even know how to use and external drive lol.

I don't even know if my disc drive works because I haven't bought a physical game yet.

I don't use one but even if you buy discs instead of digital an external drive would be useful
