Does Xbox One game code linked to old email when changed?

Hi,

I have a Halo MCC code that I want to use on my xbox account, it shows that the game will be linked to my current email.

However, I want to change my current email to another email in my Microsoft account. I'm asking the community that if I enter the game code now, will the game be link to my new email after I changed or will it remain with my older
email, making it unplayable as I'm not the "rightful owner" of it?

getting emails from old xbox account

Hi,

About a year ago, i linked .y xbox live account to a new email. I allready had an account linked to that email so i made a new email account for that one. Everything was fine untill a few months ago, when all the sudden i started getting emails from my old
xbox live account.

So im getting emails again from an old account that is not linked to my email anymore for a year or so, normally this wouldnt bother me but when this started i also didnt get emails from the gamertag linked to this account anymore

So long story short: i get emails from a different account than the one that is linked to it?!

Gamer tag issues

Just purchased a new Xbox 1X and when I sign in with my email it downloads an old gamer tag from years ago. I have my current gamer tag on my Xbox 1. Why is this old gamer tag still linked to my account and why does the new Xbox 1X only recognize this old
gamer tag and not even give me a choice to download my current one?

the game should be linked to your account, not the email directly. so when you update your email on your profile all your purchases are still there. if you do seem to have any issues make sure to contact support. hope that helps.

When I use the link to billing, it sends a code to an old email address. I changed it in my account on the 16th. I've actually had this current email for two years, but I've been too lazy to change it until recently. When I select the link for 'not using
this email address' it takes me to the account page and reflects the changes I made on the 16th. I hit 'save' and tried again, but it's still sending the email to my old address.

I need help i changed my email to my xbox account but its still sending all my emails to the old one and it shows the the old as my email instead of my new one on games and when i register for things how do i change this??

when you login to xbox.com go to My Account and click the link to Manage Account. it wil want to send the code to your old email but at the bottom is a link to update your email incase you are no longer using the email you first signed up with and it will
take you through the steps to update and change your email. hope this helps!

Does he know the password for the Microsoft Account?

If he does you should still be able to change the email used to sign into the account by going to

account.live.com/addassocid and adding an alias/email to the account and making that new email the primary email and then he would be able to remove the old email.

If he has the password but when going to that site and it wants to verify the ownership of the account by sending an email with a code to the old email address (what microsoft calls a security proof) he would be able to change the security proof but it will
lock him out of the account for 30 days while the security proof change takes affect. Once the security proof change takes affect he would be able to change the email associated with the account.
