Does the XO support 1024x768 resolution?

I have a 720p tv but the best resolution my 360 output was 1024x768. just bought an xo and wondering if the XO has that same resolution. Thanks!

pixel aspect ratio. 1024x768 in a 16:9 plasma uses rectangular pixels. 16:9 programming won't look stretched. It doesn't look great compared to newer displays, but the aspect ratio
on the programming is correct.

1024x768 Plasma displays are still sold.

It can support higher resolution than that and is reportedly even 4K-ready. If that's all your TV can support however, then that's all you'll probably get.

 

You could receive a 1080i resolution but it wouldn't be much different and you're better off at the 720p since it's a better refresh rate. And you don't notice much different to tee average eye out there. Just another nit pick by people that compare things
like hertz and Plasma to LCD, you'll never get an honest answer from the whole consensus. As long as you're happy with what you see, you're your best critic.

 

The Xbox One does NOT support 1024x768 and it does NOT support 4K and it does NOT support 1080i. The only resolutions the Xbox One supports are 1080p, 720p and 640x480. It is severely limited in the resolutions it supports, especially in comparison to
the Xbox 360.

There are a bunch of requests on the new Xbox feedback site (Xbox Ideas, powered by UserVoice) requesting that additional resolutions be added in an update. If you want 1024x768 or other resolutions to be added
you can vote on some of them.

 

Did I say it supported 1024x768? No, I said it supported resolutions HIGHER than that, which is technically true (since I made no mention of which ones it could support). I also made no mention of 1080i, so I can't be held at fault for that either. Furthermore,
the HDMI cable that comes with the console can reportedly support a 4K connection - I read that from reports early on during the initial release of the Xbox One, which supports my position that it IS 4K-ready (but not necessarily 4K-capable).

 

That post wasn't directed at you Galactic Geek. I was saying that it didn't support 1024x768 to answer el bos's question since nobody else did. Though, you did imply that it was supported when you said, "If that's all your TV can support however, then
that's all you'll probably get." That implies that the Xbox One will support whatever resolution el bos's TV or any TV can support which is not true. The TV supports 1024x768, but the Xbox One does not. Many TVs support 1080i, but the Xbox One does not.


Dwoop33 is the one that said it could "receive a 1080i resolution" which is incorrect. There were some other things incorrect in Dwoop33's post that I won't get into.

There is nothing "4K-ready" about the Xbox One system itself. Just because the HDMI cable supports 4K that does not make the Xbox One 4K-ready. If you took the HDMI cable included with the Xbox One and connected it to a non-4K TV and a set-top box that
does not make either the TV or the STB 4K-ready. Only the cable could be considered 4K-ready. If you know that its only the HDMI cable that supports 4K you shouldn't mislead people into thinking the Xbox One supports 4K or is "4K-ready".

 

I am so confused by the above post. So since the xbox one comes with a HDMI cable that is 4K capable that mkes it not 4K capable? You said if its connected to a non 4K tv and non 4k set top box it doesnt make them 4K capable. Well duh. However if I connected
the cable to a 4K TV and had a game that output at 4K resolution, then it would be a 4K capable device would it not? Either way Ill wait for IceStorm to troll along and give his two pennies before I take your word.

 

Found this article stating Xbox One is certainly capable of playing 4K movies and gmes(if and when they are developed) So not really sure what phugor is talking about. Care to explain?

Not sure what's so hard to understand. The HDMI cable is the only thing that supports 4K. Just because it was included with the Xbox One that does not make the console itself capable of 4K.

You don't need to wait for another poster to come along and tell you what they think because it won't necessarily be true. You can find out for yourself by going into the Xbox One display settings and changing it from Auto-detect to HDMI and it will list
the only resolutions the Xbox One is capable of - 1080p, 720p and 640x480. You will see that 4K is not listed as one of the resolutions.

The Xbox One didn't support 3D at launch either. It was just added within the last month. So either that article is wrong or Microsoft was lying.

Its possible that the Xbox One could be updated to support 4K in the future and that's what some requests on the Xbox feedback site are requesting, but that does not mean it is 4K-ready now.

 

ANY certified high speed HDMI will support 4K video.
