Does the Xbox Elite console allow for 1440p or 120hz gaming?

I bought a 1440p 144hz gaming monitor, however, after seeing other xbox ones get access to 1440p or 120 refres rates, I follow the process and yet am still met with 1080 @ 60hz option. I know I need to upgrade and will very soon, however, I still wanted to know if the Xbox Elite 1Tb console allows for either 120 refresh rates or 1440p.

First, welcome to the Xbox community. Unfortunately not, as the Xbox one elite hardware specs are based on the same Xbox one, this console would not be able to process that resolution or frame rate in games due to its very limited processing power, so you only get the 1080@60 option.

the xbox series x will not allow the OP to select 1440p at 120hz.

OP - the monitor must have proper vesa timings listed in its edid for the xbox to use, if it does not list 1440p 120hz in the edid for hdmi then the xbox will not use it.

The xbox One S will connect to a 1440p /120hz monitor. However bare in mind that most games on the Xbox are capped to between 30 & 60hz.

Also your monitor would have to support 120hz/1440p over HDMI as the console does not have a displayport connector.

The Xbox One X supports 120hz only at 1440p and 1080p resolutions. It does not support 120hz at 4k. So unless your TV or monitor supports 1440p resolution (many don't), you will only get 1080p when selecting 120hz.
