  2. Xbox 360 Controller Connecting to a Windows 10 Laptop

    Hi,

Sorry bit there is no 'correct 360 controller cable'.

A 360 wireless controller remains wireless even when plugged in, it does not become wired if you connect via USB. The reason is because the controller isn't designed to send data down a USB cable.

Only the Xbox One controller works wired and wireless.

Are all Xbox One Controllers going to be Wireless?

Well, that sounds great. Let me get this straight though, does this mean that we don't have to buy a separate Play and Charge kit? Not like it matters too much to me, as I prefer wireless, but I wanna know.

It depends upon how old your controller is. The early ones still operated wirelessly when the charging cable was plugged in - all the cable did was charge the battery pack. I had thought I had read in the past that when the transforming D-pad models came
out they were going to make it so the signal was carried over the USB cable, but I cannot find any information confirming that so that may or may not be a feature in the newer versions.

There are some 3rd party ones (Mad Catz?) that do this, and of course the One controllers do this.

    wireless controller disconnects

Hi there. First make sure that your batteries have enough charge in them, and make sure that there are no metallic objects between the controller and the console as they can cause interference. Other devices such as cordless phones and microwaves can also
    cause interference with the controller.

Check out this article on the Xbox Support site:

Xbox 360 controller not working with Xbox Cloud Gaming.

    Hi,

The Xbox 360 wireless controllers can't be turned into wired ones with a Play & Charge. This is because even when wired, 360 wireless controllers remain wireless. The cable only provides power, no data is sent.

This is also why they don't appear in game controllers but the generic controller does.

To use a wireless 360 controller on Windows requires a gaming receiver. And the receiver must be for 360 controllers, the official receiver for Xbox One/Series controllers won't work.

    controller disconnect

It does work wired. Randomly disconnects using it wireless. Nothing close as far as router or microwave.

    Hey again UndatedPrawn712!

    Thanks for posting that information.

Could there be anything blocking the wireless signal from your router/modem to your Xbox 360 console?

This could be, wireless headsets, other wireless networks, microwaves etc.
